The Hornets were only able to win two of their first 10 games this year over Pacific Union and UC Davis. Sacramento State otherwise fell to Nevada, Stanford, Tulane, CSU Bakersfield, Austin Peay, Long Beach State, Cal State Fullerton and UC San Diego during that time.
Last Thursday versus Bethesda, Sacramento State halted their three-game losing streak in blowout fashion. The Hornets were up 54-13 by halftime and cruised to the win 100-46 with 46 more points from there. Top performer was Duncan Powell with 13 points, 10 assists and 15 rebounds for a triple-double.

Over on the Vandals’ side, they went a sketchy 3-4 to start the year with losses to Washington State, CSU Northridge, Seattle and Denver. Idaho bagged a win streak in the next three games over Cal Poly, Pacific and Utah Tech, but then lost to Stanford and UC Riverside in consecutive outings afterward.
In their latest matchup versus UC Riverside, the Vandals held a slim 39-37 lead at the break. Idaho faltered in the second half on a 45-28 run however and lost 82-67. Leading team scorer was Julius Mims with 23 points and 11 rebounds with two assists. D’Angelo Minnis added 12 points and nine assists as well.

I’ll stick with Idaho. There’s not a ton to get excited about in this one if you’re not a fan of either team, but it should be a competitive game. The Vandals had a rough second half in their latest matchup versus UC Riverside and ended up getting out-rebounded 39-27 (9-3 offensive) in the defeat. The shooting wasn’t too bad (43.4 percent), but Idaho gave up 50 percent from the field to the Highlanders. That makes 67 or fewer points in three straight games for the Vandals, who could use a good offensive shot in the arm. There should be some decent scoring opportunities versus Sacramento State though, as the Hornets have given up 83 points in two of their last four games. I think Idaho can get to a cover/win if they play reasonably well.
