Over on the Lopes’ side, they lost just one of their first 18 games versus South Carolina. After another loss to Seattle, Grand Canyon beat Stephen F. Austin, TX-Arlington, Seattle, Utah Valley, Southern Utah, Utah Tech and Cal Baptist. Next came losses to Tarleton State and Abilene Christian, though.

Back on Thursday versus UTRGV, Grand Canyon started a little slowly on a 28-24 first-half edge. The Antelopes drilled the Vaqueros 44-19 the rest of the way however and took the blowout 72-43. Tyon Grant-Foster led the way on his 21 points, six rebounds and four assists.

I’m going to stay with the Lopes. In their latest outing versus a struggling UTRGV team, Grand Canyon shot very well (50 percent) alongside a 42-23 rebounding edge. It was a much-needed defensive performance after giving up 76 or more points in three straight games—even if it was versus a team with only six wins.

The last time these teams met up, the Antelopes secured a close road matchup 53-51 on January 25. Neither team shot well in that one (both below 34 percent) and there were 30 total turnovers (16 for the Lopes). I like this one to be more of a high-scoring affair, and it should be a fun one to watch. I like Grand Canyon to pull off the cover if they can minimize the mistakes this time.
