The Seattle Mariners and the Detroit Tigers square off Wednesday in MLB action from Comerica Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Detroit Tigers vs Seattle Mariners Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Seattle Mariners will start Bryan Woo here and Woo is 5-1 with a 2.27 ERA and 50 strikeouts this season. This will be Woo’s second career start against the Tigers. The Detroit Tigers did not have a starting pitcher announced at the time that this article was posted.

Seattle Mariners Recap

The Seattle Mariners come into this one looking to rebound from a 15-1 beatdown loss at the hands of the Tigers in Tuesday’s series opener. The loss put the Mariners at risk of failing to build on their series sweep over the Mets this past weekend.

Mariners Trying To Keep Pace Atop AL West

Entering Tuesday, Julio Rodriguez leads the Mariners with 101 hits including a .260 batting average and also has 9 doubles. Cal Raleigh has a team-high 26 home runs along with 76 RBIs and 134 strikeouts. Mitch Haniger also has 11 home runs and 42 RBIs while Rodriguez has 18 stolen bases and 117 strikeouts as well this season. Dylan Moore has 18 doubles with 21 stolen bases and Josh Rojas has 16 doubles also this season.

Why the Seattle Mariners will win

  • The Tigers have lost each of their last nine night games at Comerica Park following a home win.
  • The Mariners have won each of their last six games at Comerica Park following a loss.
  • The Mariners have covered the run line in each of their last seven road games against the Tigers following a loss.
  • The Tigers have failed to cover the run line in each of their last seven home games against AL West opponents following a home win.

Detroit Tigers Recap

The Detroit Tigers will try to build on Tuesday’s series opening win over the Mariners, and a win here would help Detroit bounce back from a series loss to the Giants this past weekend with a second series win over Seattle in the span of a week.

Tigers Trying To Finish At .500

Going into Tuesday’s opener, Riley Greene has 98 hits including 17 home runs and 51 RBIs along with 21 doubles, 5 triples, a .264 batting average and a .357 OBP in addition to a team-high 109 strikeouts this season. Matt Vierling also has 99 hits as well as 5 triples and 20 doubles with 14 home runs and 46 RBIs while Wenceel Perez has 5 triples and a team-high 9 stolen bases. Colt Keith also has 11 home runs and 43 RBIs as well this year.

Why the Detroit Tigers will win

  • The home team has won each of the Mariners’ last five games.
  • The Mariners have lost four of their last five games against American League opponents.
  • The Tigers have covered the run line each of their last six night games against teams that held a winning record.
  • The Mariners have failed to cover the run line in each of their last eight Wednesday night road games against American League opponents.

Detroit Tigers vs Seattle Mariners Prediction

I’m leaning towards the Mariners here. I don’t love it because of how the Mariners’ offense pulled a Houdini on Tuesday and vanished once again, but I will say, I like what I’ve seen from Bryan Woo to this point, and he’s still been relatively solid on the road this season. The Tigers will probably be putting out a bullpen game for this one, and their bullpen hasn’t been overly effective for much of the year if we’re being 100% honest. The Mariners can ill afford slip ups in winnable spots if they’re going to make a serious run at the division crown down the stretch, so I’ll side with Seattle in this one.
