The California Golden Bears are 1-0 this season after they defeated UC Davis by a score of 31-13 in their first game. California trailed 13-7 in the second quarter, but they scored the final 24 points in the game to pick up the 18-point win. California was outgained by a total of 304-281, but they did force three turnovers in the game. The Golden Bears went just 2-13 on third down and 3-4 on fourth down in the win. Fernando Mendoza threw for 158 yards and one touchdown, while Jaydn Ott rushed for 49 yards and two scores on 14 carries.
California didn’t play great in their first game, but they were able to force a few turnovers and pick up the win. The Golden Bears struggled to move the ball against UC Davis, which is definitely a concern coming into this game against Auburn. Cal did a good job of limiting points, but they still allowed over 300 yards to an FCS team. California will meet San Diego State after this one.
Auburn vs California Prediction
Auburn was able to dominate a much lesser opponent in week one and while Alabama A&M isn’t anything to write home about, the Tigers did look very good. On the flip side, California struggled to get by UC Davis and they were outgained in the game. These two teams played last season, with Auburn winning by a score of 14-10 on the road, but I expect the Tigers to put up more points here. I think Auburn will find success in the passing game and I don’t think Cal has the offense to keep up. Take Auburn to win by two scores.
