The Los Angeles Angels and the Houston Astros square off Saturday in MLB action from Minute Maid Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Houston Astros vs LA Angels Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Los Angeles Angels will start Reid Detmers here and Detmers is 4-7 with a 6.05 ERA and 94 strikeouts this season. In his last five starts against the Astros, Detmers is 0-3 with a 10.38 ERA and 17 strikeouts. Los Angeles Angels Recap

The Los Angeles Angels come into this one looking to bounce back from back-to-back losses after a 9-7 loss to Houston in Friday’s matchup. The loss meant the best the Angels could do in this series was salvage a split to try to build on their series win over the White Sox earlier in the week.

Angels Hoping To Salvage Something From Rest Of Season

Taylor Ward has 137 hits along with 26 doubles, 25 home runs, and 71 RBIs while Zach Neto has 32 doubles, 21 home runs, 71 RBIs, 130 strikeouts, and 30 stolen bases. Luis Rengifo also has 85 hits and 24 stolen bases while Jo Adell has 20 home runs, 62 RBIs, and 15 stolen bases as well. Logan O’Hoppe has 106 hits and Neto has 129 hits as well with O’Hoppe adding 19 homers and 55 RBIs. Nolan Schanuel also has 128 hits with 18 doubles, 13 homers and 52 RBIs.

Why the Los Angeles Angels will win

  • The Astros have lost three of their last four games as home favorites against the Angels following a home win.
  • The road team has covered the run line in nine of the last 12 games between the Angels and Astros.
  • The Astros have failed to cover the run line in three of their last four home games against the Angels following a win.

Houston Astros Recap

The Houston Astros will try to keep the momentum going after another win over the Angels in Friday’s matchup. The win meant the Astros are in a good spot to bounce back from their series loss to the Padres to start the week.

Astros Have One Hand On AL West Title

Jose Altuve has 180 hits and a .297 batting average with 19 home runs, 63 RBIs, and 29 doubles while Yordan Alvarez also has 34 homers with 85 RBIs and 32 doubles. Altuve has the Astros’ team lead with 22 stolen bases so far this season. Jeremy Pena also has 156 hits and a .269 batting average as well as 18 stolen bases of his own this season. Alex Bregman’s added 24 homers 70 RBIs and 28 doubles also.

Why the Houston Astros will win

  • The Astros have won each of their last eight games against American League opponents following a win.
  • The Angels have lost each of their last seven games against AL West opponents.
  • The Angels have failed to cover the run line in each of their last seven games as underdogs against AL West opponents.
  • The Astros have covered the run line in each of their last six games as favorites against AL West opponents.

Houston Astros vs LA Angels Prediction

I’m on the Astros here. Houston just keeps finding ways to win and I see no difference here. I think this win could be a bit more comfortable considering Detmers’ issues in his career against Houston and I don’t see Houston letting up here. Blanco’s form has cooled off a bit since his strong start to the year, but in the end, he’s the much better option and the Astros behind him are as well. Give me Houston.
