In this article we will formulate a San Jose Sharks vs Anaheim Ducks prediction for this NHL game on Friday, October 11th at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this NHL matchup.

San Jose Sharks Betting Preview

The San Jose Sharks are 0-0-1 this year after they lost to St. Louis by a score of 5-4 in overtime. San Jose was tied at one in the first period, but they scored the next three goals and led 4-1 heading into the third. The Sharks allowed three goals in the third period, including the game-tying goal with under a minute left, before losing 45 seconds into overtime. San Jose was outshot by a total of 40-29, recorded 19 hits, and went 1-2 on the power play in the game. Tyler Toffoli led the Sharks with one goal, one assist, and four shots on goal, while Blackwood stopped 35 out of 40 shots for an .875 save percentage.

San Jose played very well through two periods in their first game and it looked like they were well on their way to a win, but they fell apart in the third and picked up the loss. The Sharks are coming off of a horrendous 23-24 season, so they need to find some early wins to get the confidence back up. The Sharks will face the Stars following this game.

Anaheim Ducks Betting Preview

The Anaheim Ducks were 27-50-5 last season and they finished with 59 points, which put them seventh in the Pacific Division. Anaheim played decently well through their first 15 games, as they picked up nine wins, but they lost 13 of the next 14 games and fell apart after that. The Ducks were 30th in goals scored and they were also 30th in goals against, so there is plenty to improve on from last season. Lukas Dostal is expected to be the starting goalie for this game, after he recorded a .902 save percentage last year, while Frank Vatrano led the Ducks last year with 37 goals and 23 assists.

Anaheim went 3-3 in the preseason this year, as they picked up wins against San Jose (twice) and Utah. The Ducks lost three of their first four games, but they bounced back by winning their last two games of the preseason.

San Jose Sharks vs Anaheim Ducks Prediction

Anaheim is one of the last teams to open the 24-25 NHL season, but they have a great opportunity to pick up a win against the Sharks. We saw San Jose completely fall apart in their first game and their defense/goaltending is going to be questionable all season. Anaheim has some talent on their team and if they can stay healthy, they will be much improved this year. I think San Jose has an edge by already playing a game, but I am excited about this Anaheim team. Take the Ducks here.
