The Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks meet Wednesday in NBA action at the State Farm Arena. Here’s an Atlanta Hawks vs Brooklyn Nets Prediction. This article will include an Atlanta Hawks vs Brooklyn Nets Pick.

Brooklyn Nets Betting Preview

The Nets play the Magic and Bucks next. The Brooklyn Nets won 32 games last season and now begin the Jordi Fernandez era. The Nets moved Mikal Bridges for five first-round picks, so while the future feels bright, it doesn’t do much for the production this season. Cam Thomas is starting to come into his own and guys like Cameron Johnson and Nic Claxton have shown what they’re capable of when healthy, but there’s just not a lot to get excited about. Ben Simmons is talking a lot to the media, but every time a season starts, a mysterious injury tends to set him back.

The Brooklyn Nets just don’t have the players to likely even contend for a playoff spot this season. Check back in a couple of years when those draft picks turn into players.

Atlanta Hawks Betting Preview

The Hawks play the Hornets and Thunder next. The Atlanta Hawks are coming off 36 wins and a failed playoff appearance. The Hawks enter the second full year under coach Quin Snyder. The Hawks moved Dejounte Murray, which gives the keys back to Trae Young as the primary playmaker. However, that move felt like the Hawks were heading toward a rebuild, so the roster is a bit confusing. Bogdan Bogdanovic is still a respectable shooter, and Clint Capela does his job in the paint. A full season of De’Andre Hunter would be nice, and there’s potential in the youth of Zaccharie Risacher and Jalen Johnson. It’s not completely terrible for the Hawks, but this roster isn’t enough to make noise in the East. If a slow start takes place, it wouldn’t be shocking to see the Hawks head into a youth movement and start moving guys.

The Hawks have won at least 41 games in 6 of their last 10 seasons.

Atlanta Hawks vs Brooklyn Nets Injury Report

The Nets will be without Trendon Watford, Day’Ron Sharpe, and Bojan Bogdanovic. The Hawks will be without Kobe Bufkin, while Clint Capela is day to-day with an ankle injury.

Why the Atlanta Hawks will win

  • The Nets have lost each of their last eight season openers against Eastern Conference opponents.
  • The home team has won six of the Nets’ last seven games.
  • The Nets have failed to cover the spread in each of their last five road games against Southeast Division opponents.
  • The Hawks have covered the spread in each of their last three games against Atlantic Division opponents.

Total Points Facts

  • Each of the Hawks’ last eight home games has gone OVER the total points line.
  • Each of the Nets’ last four night games against Southeast Division opponents have gone OVER the total points line.

Atlanta Hawks vs Brooklyn Nets Prediction

The Brooklyn Nets could easily be one of the worst teams in the NBA this season, and they’re going to be big dogs most nights because of it. However, let’s not act like the Hawks are world beaters, as they weren’t good last season, and you could argue they’re even worse with the move of Murray. I get the Nets don’t have much appeal as they’re planning for the future, but that doesn’t mean we just make other mid-teams big favorites. It’s Nets or pass for me.
