The Stonehill Skyhawks and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish meet Wednesday in college basketball action from the Purcell Pavilion. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Notre Dame vs Stonehill College Prediction.
Stonehill Recap
The Stonehill Skyhawks come into this one fresh off of their first win of the season after an 81-62 win over subdivision Framingham State. After this game, Stonehill will head on the road to take on Providence.
Skyhawks Get In Win Column
Josh Morgan led the Skyhawks with 25 points coming on 5 threes and a 10 of 10 mark from the foul line along with 3 assists and 3 steals while Todd Brogna added 20 points on 5 of 7 shooting with a team-high 8 rebounds. Hermann Koffi added 13 points on 5 of 7 shooting with 3 threes off of the bench to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Stonehill. As a team, Stonehill is averaging 81 PPG on 38.3% shooting from the field, 41.9% from three, and 71% from the foul line this season.
Why the Stonehill Skyhawks will win
- Notre Dame has lost three of its last four games.
Notre Dame Recap
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish come into this one looking to take a step forward after Micah Shrewsberry’s debut season, finishing 13-20 overall including 7-13 in ACC play. The Irish knocked out Georgia Tech before falling to Wake Forest in the second round, ending their season. The Irish bring back a pair of top pieces from last year’s team, led by Markus Burton who had 17.5 PPG along with 4.3 APG and 1.9 SPG while Braeden Shrewsberry had 10.2 PPG with 2.5 RPG as well last year. Matt Allocco also transfers over from Princeton after logging 12.7 PPG while shooting 42.7% from behind the arc last season. I think that the Irish will take a step forward in 2024-25, it’s just a matter of how much of a step is the question.
Why the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will win
- Stonehill has lost each of its last 22 road games.
- Notre Dame has won 14 of its last 15 night games against non-conference opponents at Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center.
Notre Dame vs Stonehill College Prediction
I’m leaning towards the Irish here. Normally I’m not going out of my way to lay points with Notre Dame, especially a Notre Dame team that lost to Western Carolina by 10 and the Citadel by 20 points last year. However, I still think that Notre Dame has some decent firepower in that lineup, and Stonehill, when they went into their step-up spots last year, really struggled losing by 40 to UConn, 44 to Saint Joseph’s, and 34 to Kentucky. The Irish should be able to use this game as a nice tune-up before the ball really starts rolling so I’ll side with Notre Dame here.
