The Oakland Golden Grizzlies and the Kansas Jayhawks meet Saturday in college basketball action from Allen Fieldhouse. Here’s a Kansas vs Oakland prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Kansas vs Oakland pick.
Oakland Golden Grizzlies Betting Preview
The Grizzlies kicked off their 2024-25 season with a pretty routine matchup against Defiance. Oakland cruised to a blowout win 75-52 in that one. As for game two, the Grizzlies hit the wall against Boise State and stumbled to an 87-43 defeat.
Oakland was up against another tough team in Illinois on Wednesday. The Grizzlies took a seven-point deficit into the break and ultimately didn’t get closer in a 66-54 loss. Jayson Woodrich posted a team-high 11 points, and DQ Cole had 10 points in the defeat.
Kansas Jayhawks Betting Preview
Over on the Kansas side, they didn’t have too many issues versus Howard in their opener, rolling to an 87-57 win. Game two against North Carolina was a different story, though. Kansas was outscored 51-39 in the second half but held on for the win 92-89.
On Tuesday in their matchup with Michigan State, the Jayhawks went into the locker room with a six-point lead. Kansas scored another 47 points from there in a 77-69 victory. Hunter Dickinson was the leading scorer on 28 points and 12 rebounds.
Why the Kansas Jayhawks will win
- Kansas has won each of its last 16 games against non-Conference opponents at Allen Fieldhouse.
- Oakland has lost 15 of its last 18 away games when playing with a rest disadvantage.
- Kansas has won the first half in 38 of its last 40 night games against non-Conference opponents at Allen Fieldhouse.
Why the Oakland Golden Grizzlies will win
- Oakland has won seven of its last eight Saturday games.
Kansas vs Oakland Prediction
I’ll probably just stay with Kansas here. The Jayhawks are coming off a decent effort against Michigan State, shooting 40.6 percent from the field with 17 assists and a 47-43 rebounding edge. The Jayhawks did have 10 turnovers and weren’t spectacular from the line (16-of-22) but it was a well-deserved W away from home.
As for Oakland, they were outmuscled on the boards 37-27 by Illinois in their last appearance and coughed up 18 turnovers along the way. The 4-of-25 (16 percent) from 3-point range didn’t help matters. The Grizzlies are in for another tough game here and I don’t think they’ll get very close.
