Hofstra Pride Betting Preview

The Hofstra Pride are 12-15 (4-10) this season after they lost to Hampton by a score of 67-49 in their last game. Hofstra trailed 35-16 at halftime, but they did win the second half by a total of 33-32 in the loss. The Pride shot 30.8% from the field, 16.7% on three-pointers, and 73.7% on free throws in the game. Jaquan Sanders led Hofstra with 12 points and four assists, while Jean Aranguren added 10 points and two rebounds in the game.

Prior to that loss, the Pride lost to William & Mary by a score of 61-60 and Stony Brook by a score of 80-75. Hofstra has lost five games in a row and they are currently third to last in the CAA standings with a 4-10 record. Hofstra has scored 66.6 points per game and they have allowed 65.9 points per game, while also averaging 35.0 rebounds and 13.4 assists per game this season. Jean Aranguren is averaging 14.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game, while Cruz Davis is averaging 14.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game this year. Hofstra is shooting 42.6% from the field, 72.9% on free throws, and 33.1% on three-pointers this season.

Monmouth Hawks Betting Preview

The Monmouth Hawks are 9-18 (7-7) this year after they lost to Towson by a score of 80-54 in their last game. Monmouth trailed 39-20 at halftime and allowed 41 more points in the second half for the blowout loss. The Hawks shot 37.7% from the field, 20% on three-pointers, and 73.3% on free throws in the game. Madison Durr led Monmouth with nine points and two assists, while Cornelius Robinson III added eight points and five rebounds in the game.

Prior to that loss, the Hawks defeated Stony Brook by a score of 79-69 but did lose to Towson by a score of 73-67 before that. Monmouth has won four of their last six games and they are currently tied for sixth in the CAA standings with a 7-7 record. Monmouth has scored 70.1 points per game and they have allowed 76.5 points per game, while also averaging 34.3 rebounds and 11.3 assists per game this season. Abdi Bashir Jr. is averaging 20.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game, while Madison Durr is averaging 13.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game this year. Monmouth is shooting 40.7% from the field, 75% on free throws, and 34.3% on three-pointers this season.

Why Hofstra will beat Monmouth

  • Monmouth has lost eight of its last nine road night games against the Coastal Athletic Association.
  • Hofstra has won seven of its last eight games against Monmouth.
  • Hofstra has won the first half in each of its last seven games against Monmouth.

Hofstra vs Monmouth Prediction

Hofstra comes into this matchup trying to snap their five-game losing streak and they will be at home for this contest. The Pride are shooting 42.6% from the field this year and they have scored 60 points or fewer in three of their last five games. Monmouth has won three of their last five games, but they are shooting just 40.7% from the field this season. The Hawks have had some problems on defense this year, as they are allowing 76.5 points per game, which should help this low-scoring Hofstra offense. I don’t really trust either side in this matchup, but I will take the better defensive team at home. Take Hofstra here.
