The North Carolina State Wolfpack and the Miami Hurricanes meet Saturday in college football action from Hard Rock Stadium. Here’s a Miami vs North Carolina State prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Miami vs North Carolina State pick.

North Carolina State Wolfpack Betting Preview

NC State opened up their campaign this year with three straight wins, taking out East Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest in succession. Losses to Duke and Virginia Tech came next, then a win over Campbell before losses to Notre Dame and Pitt. In the 53-34 loss to the Panthers, NC State gave up 529 total yards, 423 passing yards, 6.5 yards per play and 29 first downs. The offense gathered 445 yards on the other side with just 15 first downs and a rough 4-of-13 success rate on third downs during the defeat.

NC State’s latest matchup was back on November 1 versus Georgia Tech. In that one the Wolfpack scored double-digit points in every quarter—but also gave up points in every quarter—on the way to an upset victory 48-36 in the end. Quarterback CJ Bailey finished 24-of-32 for 340 yards and a pair of scores while also rushing for another touchdown. Jayden Scott led the rush with 196 yards and a score of his own on 24 carries, and Teddy Hoffmann had three catches for 74 yards and a touchdown in the victory effort for the Wolfpack.

Miami Hurricanes Betting Preview

Over on the Miami side, they rolled through their first five games, taking wins over Notre Dame, Bethune-Cookman, South Florida, Florida and Florida State. After a loss to Louisville, Miami beat Stanford before another loss to SMU. In the loss to the Mustangs on November 1, Miami gave up just 23 rush yards and 3-of-13 on third downs. The team committed 12 overall penalties in a sloppy game however, and the offense coughed up a couple of picks as well.

In their latest matchup versus Syracuse last weekend, Miami jumped out to a 14-0 halftime lead and added 17 more points in the third. The Hurricanes would end up cruising to the home victory 38-10 in the end. QB Carson Beck finished with 247 yards and a TD on 18-of-24 passing and leading rusher Girard Pringle had 55 yards and a TD on seven carries. Tops in receiving was Keelan Marion with three catches for 116 yards and a touchdown.

Miami vs NC State Prediction

I’ll take a stab on NC State here. The Wolfpack have had an extra week to rest and prepare for this one, which should do them a lot of good in a tricky road game. NC State posted a nice 583 yards total in their win over Georgia Tech, along with 243 rush yards, 26 first downs, 7-of-11 on third-down tries and no turnovers. The defense gave up 408 pass yards and 30 first downs but that was enough to secure the win. The only troubling thing is that NC State has surrendered a total of 89 points over their last two games combined.

As for Miami, they didn’t have too much trouble with a struggling Syracuse team at home on Saturday. The Hurricanes gained 385 yards total with 6.8 yards per play, 22 first downs and no turnovers but went just 3-of-9 on third downs as well. The defense allowed only 285 total yards with 6-of-15 on third-down tries alongside three takeaways in a solid performance. It was a nice bounce-back outing after the six-point OT road loss to SMU, and Miami needs to keep that momentum going here. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Hurricanes dominate this one, but I think NC State can play well enough to power themselves into a cover in the end.
