The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and the Vanderbilt Commodores meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Imperial Arena. Here’s a Vanderbilt vs Western Kentucky prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Vanderbilt vs Western Kentucky pick.
Western Kentucky Hilltoppers Betting Preview
Western Kentucky hasn’t been all that busy so far this year. The Hilltoppers have just four games in the bag, but the good news is that they’ve been able to record wins in each of them. WKU kicked things off with a 12-point victory over Tennessee Tech in the opener, then took out Eastern Kentucky in game two. After that came a win over Tennessee State, followed by a victory over Bethel TN in blowout fashion last week. That gives Western Kentucky a nice 4-0 run thus far.
In their most recent outing back on November 18 versus Bethel TN, the Hilltoppers came out of the break sporting a 44-26 advantage. Western Kentucky hit a 53-41 run the rest of the way, leading to a 97-67 blowout victory in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Grant Newell with 16 points and two boards in 16 mintues, while Teagan Moore had 15 points with five assists and four rebounds. Kade Unseld added 15 points with two rebounds as well.
Vanderbilt Commodores Betting Preview
Over on the Vanderbilt side, they’ve got five games in the books this season so far. Similarly, all of the Commodores appearances have resulted in victories. Vanderbilt beat Lipscomb in a blowout during their opener, then took care of Central Florida in game two. Game three was a 30-point win over Eastern Kentucky, then came another blowout victory versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Vanderbilt last appeared versus Texas Southern in another sizable win last week.
Last Thursday versus Texas Southern, the Commodores were up 60-33 going into the second half. Vanderbilt rolled from there on a 49-41 run and took the blowout victory 109-74 in the end. Leading the team with 20 points, seven assists and two boards in 28 minutes of work was Tyler Tanner, while Tyler Nickel added 20 points as well with five boards and two assists in 27 minutes. Devin McGlockton put up 14 points with six boards and two assists for the Commodores in the winning effort.

Vanderbilt vs Western Kentucky Prediction
I’ll lean toward Vanderbilt. This is a good opportunity for the Commodores to assert themselves in the early-going against a pretty solid (and undefeated) WKU squad. Vanderbilt had no issues whatsoever with a struggling Texas Southern squad in their last outing, hitting 53.4 percent from the field and 17-of-22 (77.3 percent) from the line. The Commodores were great up front with a 38-17 advantage on the boards and a 44-20 edge on points in the paint, and committed just six turnovers along the way. It’s been a scoring blitz for the Commodores so far; they’ve got 92 or more points in all five games.
As for Western Kentucky, they made short work of Bethel TN in their last outing with 42.9 percent shooting, 31-of-41 (75.6 percent) at the line, 39 rebounds and 30 points in the paint. The Hilltoppers are scoring very well themselves this year with 82 or more points in all four games. WKU has given up 70 or more points in three of those four (and 79 or more in two of them) however, so Vanderbilt should have plenty of scoring opportunities here.
