The Rutgers Scarlet Knights and the Michigan Wolverines meet Saturday in college basketball action from Crisler Center. Here’s a Michigan vs Rutgers prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Michigan vs Rutgers pick.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights Betting Preview
The Scarlet Knights started off their season on a nice run but they’ve faltered in some tough matchups lately. Rutgers opened with wins over Rider, Maine, Lehigh and American in their first four games. Losses to Central Connecticut, Tennessee and Notre Dame followed, then a win over UNLV. The Scarlet Knights took another loss versus Purdue in their last outing though, making for a 5-4 overall record across the first nine games of the season.
In the Purdue game on Tuesday, the Knights entered the second half with a 40-27 deficit. Rutgers didn’t get any closer than that, hitting a 41-38 run the rest of the way for an 81-65 loss. Dylan Grant posted 13 points with two rebounds in 24 minutes, and Harun Zrno added 13 points with two assists in 16 minutes on the floor. Jamichael Davis chipped in with nine points and five assists in the loss as well.
Michigan Wolverines Betting Preview
Over on the Michigan side, it’s been smooth sailing in a spotless run so far. The Wolverines have had a couple of close calls along the way, though. Michigan took out Oakland, Wake Forest and TCU in their first three games, then followed up with a win over Middle Tennessee. Since then it’s been three straight wins over San Diego State, Auburn and Gonzaga. In total that gives Michigan a 7-0 run so far this season.
Matched up against Gonzaga last Wednesday, the Wolverines came out of the locker room with a 53-29 edge. Michigan kept it up in the second half with a 48-32 run and took the eventual win 101-61 in blowout fashion. Topping the scorers was Yaxel Lendeborg with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Trey McKenney put up 17 points with three boards and two assists. Elliot Cadeau had 13 assists with five points and a pair of rebounds as well.

Michigan vs Rutgers Prediction
I’m probably just going to stay with Michigan. The Wolverines demolished a great Gonzaga team in their last outing, holding the Bulldogs to just 33.8 percent shooting and 13.6 percent (3-of-22) from outside. Michigan shot a whopping 60 percent themselves with 13-of-27 (48.1 percent) from outside, 42 rebounds and 29 team assists. The only real spots to complain about were the Wolverines 16-of-25 (64 percent) from the line and the 14 turnovers. Michigan has been tearing up the scoreboard all season; they’ve got a combined 203 points in just the last two games—both wins over ranked opponents in Auburn and Gonzaga.
As for Rutgers, they didn’t play terribly in their latest loss to Purdue, but couldn’t keep pace with a hot-shooting and heavy-rebounding team. The Knights were beaten on the boards 35-23 and in the paint 30-24 but did put up a decent 44.6 percent shooting themselves. Rutgers has been below 66 points in four of the last five games, losing all four of those.
