The Gonzaga Bulldogs and the Oregon Ducks meet Sunday in college basketball action from Moda Center in Portland. Here’s an Gonzaga vs Oregon Prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Gonzaga vs Oregon pick.

Gonzaga Bulldogs Betting Preview

It’s been a nice run for Gonzaga so far. The Bulldogs started out with wins over Texas Southern, Oklahoma, Creighton, Arizona State, Southern Utah, Alabama and Maryland before taking a blowout loss to Michigan. Gonzaga has since beaten Kentucky, North Florida, UCLA and Campbell in their last four games, giving the team a nice 11-1 overall run this year.

In Wednesday’s matchup with Campbell, the Bulldogs entered the second half with a 55-36 edge. Gonzaga put up a 43-34 stretch the rest of the way and win easily 98-70 in blowout fashion. Braden Huff had 37 points with eight rebounds, and Graham Ike doubled up on 14 points with 11 boards. Steele Venters chipped in with 13 points in 21 minutes during the win as well.

Oregon Ducks Betting Preview

Over on the Ducks’ side, they kicked off the season with wins over Hawaii, Rice, South Dakota State and Oregon State. Oregon would hit the skids after that however, falling to Auburn, San Diego State, Creighton, USC and UCLA in the next five outings. The Ducks have since rebounded with a pair of wins over UC Davis and Portland. That gives Oregon a 6-5 overall record across their first 11 outings of the season.

In the Portland game on Wednesday the Ducks notched a 51-41 halftime edge. Oregon scored another 43 points the rest of the way, resulting in a 94-69 victory by game’s end. Top performer Kwame Evans had 21 points with seven boards and four assists while Nate Bittle put up 18 points with four assists and three rebounds. Both Jackson Shelstad (seven rebounds) and Dezdrick Lindsay (five rebounds) each notched 14 points as well.

Why the Gonzaga Bulldogs will win

  • Gonzaga has won each of its last 13 December day games as an AP-ranked team against a non-AP-ranked team.
  • Oregon has lost eight of its last nine games against AP-ranked opponents.
  • Gonzaga has won the first half in each of its last 22 December games as a top-10 AP-ranked team against a non-AP-ranked team.

Why the Oregon Ducks will win

  • Oregon has won seven of its last eight games against the West Coast Conference.
  • Oregon has won the first half in seven of its last eight Sunday day games against non-Conference opponents.

Oregon vs Gonzaga Prediction

I’ll stay with Gonzaga. The Bulldogs are rolling along quite nicely this year, and they’ve recovered well since the loss to Michigan. In their latest matchup versus Campbell, Gonzaga hit 57.6 percent from the field and 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from outside along with a 40-27 rebounding advantage. The team did cough up 15 turnovers, however. Over the last four games (all wins), the Bulldogs have put up 82 or more points in each outing and 94 or more in three of them.

As for Oregon, they didn’t have too many issues with a decent Portland team in their last outing. The Ducks hit 48.4 percent from the field in that one with 19-of-23 (82.6 percent) from the line, 35 rebounds and 23 team assists. Oregon had a bit of turnover trouble (14) at times but overall did well. That makes 198 combined points in the last two games for the Ducks. I don’t think they’ll be able to stifle Gonzaga’s offense well enough to cover, though.
