The Florida Gators and the Georgia Bulldogs meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Stegeman Coliseum in Athens. Here’s a Georgia vs Florida prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Georgia vs Florida pick.
Florida Gators Betting Preview
The Gators had a rough run out of the gate this season, managed go go just 5-4 over their first nine games. Florida took out George Washington, Saint Francis, Colgate, Dartmouth, Georgia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt and LSU over the next 10 games, then lost to Auburn. Wins over South Carolina, Alabama and Texas A&M from there gave the Gators a 17-6 record over 23 games.
Last weekend versus Texas A&M, the Gators came out of the first half with a 30-19 edge. Florida didn’t slow up in the second on a 56-48 run the rest of the way and eventually took the sizable victory on the road 86-67. Topping the Gators in scoring was Thomas Haugh with 22 points and four boards while Rueben Chinyelu doubled up on 10 points with 15 rebounds in the winning effort.
Georgia Bulldogs Betting Preview
Over on the Georgia side, they kicked things off with a 13-1 run. The only loss over that time came courtesy of Clemson in overtime on November 23. The Bulldogs hit a 3-5 run over their next eight outings however, taking losses to Florida, Ole Miss, Texas, Tennessee and Texas A&M. After a victory over LSU, that gives the Bulldogs a 17-6 record over 23 games this year as well.
Matched up against LSU over the weekend, the Bulldogs entered the locker room with a 42-37 advantage on the scoreboard. Georgia kept it going in the second half on a 41-34 run and eventually took the victory on the road 83-71. Kanon Catchings posed 23 points with four rebounds in 29 minutes during the win, and Jeremiah Wilkinson added 18 points with one rebound.
Why the Georgia Bulldogs will win
- Georgia has won 19 of its last 22 night games at Stegeman Coliseum.

- Florida has won 14 of its last 15 February games as a top-15 AP-ranked team against a non-AP-ranked team.

- Florida has won the first half in eight of its last nine night games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
Georgia vs Florida Prediction
I’ll lean toward Florida, but you could make a case either way. The Gators got past Texas A&M in a road matchup without too much difficulty last weekend, hitting 45.6 percent from the field with a 48-35 rebounding edge and a 48-24 advantage on points in the paint. Florida has won three straight games now and eight of their last nine overall. During the last three wins, the Gators have put up 86 or more points in each outing.
These teams last met back on January 6 in a 92-77 home victory for Florida. In that one, the Gators shot well (46.7 percent) and had a 53-33 rebounding advantage with a 58-38 edge on points in the paint. Georgia, conversely, shot a tepid 41.4 percent from the field. The Bulldogs should look better in the home rematch, but I still like Florida to power it out in the end.
