The Cajuns opened up their season with a matchup at home versus Lamar on September 5. In that one Louisiana jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead (with 21 points in the second quarter alone) during a 38-7 win. As for game two, that was against USC. Louisiana managed to score points in every quarter, but gave up points in every quarter as well during a 49-30 loss.
In game three versus UAB, the Cajuns were up 21-7 going into the fourth quarter. Louisiana didn’t end up scoring in the second half at all, but had enough of a lead built up to sustain a 21-14 win. QB Lunch Winfield was 15-of-20 for 110 yards and also led the rush with 20 carries for 92 yards and two scores. Steven Blanco added 11 carries for 55 yards and another TD.
Charlotte 49ers Betting Preview
Over on the Charlotte side, they have three games in the bag so far as well. First was a tight overtime affair versus the Citadel in their opener. The 49ers fought through three extra periods but fell short in the end 43-41. Game two was a tough draw against Ole Miss. The Niners were trailing 27-0 by the end of the first half and eventually fell 41-9 in a road matchup.
Matched up against App State last weekend, Charlotte was trailing 19-7 going into the final quarter. The 49ers managed a couple of touchdowns in the final frame to make things interesting but still lost 26-21. Cole Gonzales was 22-of-35 for 211 yards and a pair of interceptions. Khamani Alexander scored twice on 13 carries for 18 yards in the loss.

Charlotte vs Louisiana Prediction
I’ll lean toward Charlotte here but I’m probably not touching it. Sure, the Niners are 0-3 right now but they’ve had a couple of close games in that time. During the loss to App State, Charlotte had nine penalties for 54 yards along with a miserable 1-of-11 success rate on third downs, two interceptions and just 26:32 in time of possession. The defense gave up 435 total yards (345 passing) and 22 first downs on the other side.
As for the Cajuns, they were able to get a win over UAB thanks to 225 rushing yards and 21 first downs. The defense was good as well with just 11 first downs and 2-of-12 on third downs allowed. Louisiana did lose a couple of fumbles and benefitted from nine Blazers penalties. Charlotte is going to have to play a very clean game if they want to compete.
