The Cougars have five games in the bag so far this season, but lost three of the first four. The lone win in there came versus Duquesne on September 19. Otherwise it was a trio of losses: 24-10 versus Washington in the opener, 34-7 at Kansas State in game two and 34-24 in the Arizona game on September 26. The Cougars started things out at a rough 1-3 overall.
In game five versus Fresno State, the Cougars had their first action in the new-look Pac-12 conference. It didn’t go very well for Washington State, as they got shut out in the second half along the way to a 26-6 defeat. QB Caden Pinnick put up a 21-of-34 line for 152 yards and an interception. Darrius Clemons led the receivers with his three catches for 33 yards.
Utah State Aggies Betting Preview
Over on the Utah State side, they’ve also played five games this year. The Aggies similarly started out at 1-3 by dropping their first trio. Those defeats came versus Idaho State, Washington and Utah. Utah State finally got into the win column in a home matchup versus Troy on September 26. That one finished with a final score of 21-10 in favor of the Aggies.
Matched up against Boise State last weekend the Aggies gave up a couple of TDs in both the first and second quarters on the way to a 28-10 halftime deficit. Utah State was able to find the end zone in the fourth but it didn’t matter in a 37-18 loss. QB Grady Brosterhous was 12-of-18 for 129 yards and a pair of scores. Javen Jacobs led the rush on 10 carries for 139 yards.

I’ll stick with Utah State but you could call this one either way. The Aggies couldn’t find a whole lot of room in their loss to a good Boise State team last weekend, notching just 15 first downs and 4-of-13 on third-down tries. On defense Utah State gave up 20 first downs, 8-of-13 on third downs and 429 yards overall. That makes 21 points or fewer in every games this season so far.
As for Washington State, they notched just nine first downs and 3-of-14 on third-down tries in their loss to Fresno State. The two turnovers didn’t help matters either. The Cougars allowed 375 yards and 35:59 in time of possession to the Bulldogs. That gives Washington State 10 or fewer points in three of their four losses. There’s not a lot to get excited about with both teams struggling here.
