Early ACC 2021 Football Conference Champion Pick

The Clemson Tigers are the class of the ACC, but this year’s squad is different, so maybe someone else can finally claim the 2021 ACC Conference Championship. Let’s take a look at the odds for the ACC Conference, and make a prediction on who will win the title.

Picks for the 2021 ACC Football Championship

Clemson Tigers (-835)

The Clemson Tigers are massive favorites to win the 2021 ACC Conference Championship, but this is a squad with some huge holes to fill. Gone are Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne who were two of the best players in team history. The good news for Clemson is they have DJ Uiagalelei under center who filled in last season for Lawrence and looks like he is the real deal. The offense has some question marks, but that isn’t the case with the defense. Clemson was the top defense during the 2020 season. and they are expected to be even better this year. This is Clemson’s conference to lose.

Miami Hurricanes (+700)

The Miami Hurricanes finished the 2020 season with an 8-3 record, but it still felt like this team could be a whole lot better. The big question for the 2021 season is who is going to be under center for this team. D’Eriq King is working his way back from an ACL injury but if he can’t go it will be freshman Tyler Van Dyke who will be under center. Miami also has a strong running back rotation which should be strong. On defense, the front seven have some questions, but the secondary is going to be elite. The defense is going to need to be the strength of this team if they want to win the ACC.

North Carolina Tar Heels (+700)

With Mack Brown now in charge of the North Carolina Tar Heels, this is a team that has dreams of a National Championship. Last season North Carolina played in the Orange Bowl, and now the question is can they take the next step. Quarterback Sam Howell looks like he can be one of the best in the Nation, and if he can play up to those expectations, this is a team that can win the ACC. On defense, there were some issues last season, and a big reason was that they had issues forcing turnovers. The front four should be a strength of this team,

Florida State Seminoles (+3300)

Nothing went well during the 2020 season for the Florida State Seminoles, but the hope is this year can be better. The biggest issue for Florida State on the offense has been with the offensive line, but the hope is that it will be better this season. McKenzie Milton has transferred from UCF, but there has to be some question if he is even healthy enough to play under center. On defense, Florida State was awful, and they need that to be better on that side of the ball. Florida State might be a little better, but it’s hard to imagine that he is going to take that big step forward.

The Rest of the Conference Odds:

  • NC State Wolfpack (+1800)
  • Louisville Cardinals (+2500)
  • Virginia Tech Hokies (+2500)
  • Virginia Cavaliers (+3300)
  • Boston College Eagles (+5000)
  • Pittsburgh Panthers (+5000)
  • Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (+6600)
  • Wake Forest Demon Deacons (+6600)
  • Duke Blue Devils (+10000)
  • Syracuse Orange (+10000)

Pick: The Clemson Tigers are the best team in the conference, but there is no chance I am laying -835 on a futures bet. North Carolina has Sam Howell under center, and I expect he is going to have a big year. Look for the North Carolina Tar Heels to win the ACC Championship.
