The Oklahoma Sooners meet the Western Carolina Catamounts Saturday in week 2 college football action at Memorial Stadium. The Western Carolina Catamounts look for a win after losing their opener to Eastern Kentucky. The Oklahoma Sooners look for another win after beating Tulane in their opener.

The Western Carolina Catamounts have lost nine of their last 10 games overall. Rogan Wells is completing 54.5 percent of his passes for 275 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Raphael Williams and Kenny Benjamin have combined for 178 receiving yards on 14 catches while TJ Jones has three receptions. The Western Carolina Catamounts ground game is averaging 142 yards per contest, and Jones leads the way with 115 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Western Carolina is allowing 31 points and 633 yards per game. Ty Harris leads the Western Carolina Catamounts with 11 tackles, Willie Hampton has one forced fumble and Jacob Harris has one pass deflection. 

The Oklahoma Sooners look for their fourth 2-0 start in the last five years. Spencer Rattler is completing 76.9 percent of his passes for 304 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Marvin Mims and Jadon Haselwood have combined for 164 receiving yards on nine catches while Mario Williams has six receptions. The Oklahoma Sooners ground game is averaging 122 yards per contest, and Kennedy Brooks leads the way with 87 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Oklahoma is allowing 35 points and 396 yards per game. Delarrin Turner-Yell leads the Oklahoma Sooners with 10 tackles, Reggie Grimes has one sack and D.J. Graham has one pass deflection.

The Western Carolina Catamounts are a lower level FCS team that hasn’t had any sort of success the last three or four seasons. The Catamounts also didn’t play much defense in their season opener, which is a major concern entering this contest. The Oklahoma Sooners got their scare out of the way last week against Tulane and should come out more polished for this contest. Oklahoma has the edge pretty much at every position on both sides of the ball. It’s just a question how hard the Sooners want to blow the doors off. It’s Oklahoma in a beatdown or pass for me.
