The Grambling State Tigers will be looking to build on their 16-10 win over the Tennessee State Tigers in their season opener last time out. Elijah Walker led the Tigers with 43 passing yards, a touchdown and an interception on 4 of 11 passing while also rushing for a team-high 77 yards and a touchdown. CJ Russell had 36 rushing yards while Darqueze Brutton had 26 rushing yards as well. Jaye Patrick hauled in an 18-yard TD pass while Greg White added a 17-yard reception as well.
The Southern Miss Golden Eagles will try to rebound from a 31-7 loss at the hands of the South Alabama Jaguars last time out. Trey Lowe threw for 133 yards and 2 INTs while Frank Gore Jr. had 81 rushing yards and Lowe rushed for 24 yards and the Golden Eagles’ lone TD in the game. Jakarius Caston caught 3 passes for 38 yards while Brad Dennis had 26 receiving yards and Demarcus Jones had 24 receiving yards, each putting up 3 receptions as well in the loss. Defensively, Santrell Latham and Averie Habas had a team-high 5 total tackles apiece with Latham logging all 5 as solo tackles while the Golden Eagles combined for 3 sacks and 11 TFLs with Josh Ratcliff logging 3.5 TFLs alone.

I get that these are two teams at different levels of the college ranks, but I’m also not about to lay three plus touchdowns with the same Golden Eagles team that looked lifeless against USA for most of that game. Grambling State probably doesn’t win this game, but could they keep is respectable and maybe even sneak in the backdoor for a cover late if they’re down big? Absolutely. It’s more likely than a Southern Miss rout here in my opinion. Give me the points with Grambling State here.
