The Vanderbilt Commodores meet the Stanford Cardinal Saturday in week 3 college football action at Vanderbilt Stadium. The Stanford Cardinal look for back-to-back road wins to get a game above a .500 record. The Vanderbilt Commodores look for a win to improve to 2-1 on the season.

The Stanford Cardinal have won five straight road games overall. Tanner McKee is completing 75.6 percent of his passes for 352 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions. Brycen Tremayne and John Humphreys have combined for 204 receiving yards and two touchdowns while Austin Jones has six receptions. The Stanford Cardinal ground game is averaging 90 yards per contest, and Nathaniel Peat leads the way with 118 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Stanford is allowing 26 points and 376 yards per game. Ricky Miezan leads the Stanford Cardinal with 15 tackles, Dalyn Wade-Perry has one sack and Kyu Blu Kelly has two interceptions.

The Vanderbilt Commodores haven’t won a home game since November of 2019. Ken Seals is completing 61 percent of his passes for 433 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Chris Pierce Jr. and Will Sehppard have combined for 255 receiving yards and one touchdown while Cam Johnson has 13 receptions. The Vanderbilt Commodores ground game is averaging 94.5 yards per contest, and Re’Mahn Davis leads the way with 135 yards on 32 carries. Defensively, Vanderbilt is allowing 22 points and 379.5 yards per game. Ethan Barr leads the Vanderbilt Commodores with 22 tackles, Jaylen Mahoney has one interception and Michael Owusu has one pass deflection.

The Cardinal are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Commodores are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games. The over is 6-2 in Cardinal last 8 games in September. The under is 4-1 in Commodores last 5 games overall.

The Stanford Cardinal are in a letdown spot after their win over USC, and while it’s a big win, we cant forget the egg they laid against Kansas State. Vanderbilt hasn’t won a home game in 22 months and did lose to East Tennessee State in its season opener. Stanford hasn’t been a double-digit favorite since November of 2018, but this is a game it should win comfortably. Vanderbilt hasn’t looked good through two games against lesser competition and has had issues stopping the run. It’s Stanford in a blowout for me.
