The Clemson Tigers meet the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Saturday in week 3 college football action from Clemson Memorial Stadium. Georgia Tech is coming off a game versus Kennesaw State. In that matchup, the Jackets managed a blowout win. As for the Tigers, they played South Carolina State in their last outing. Clemson won by a whopping 46 points in that one. Georgia Tech took a tough defeat in their first game of the season, falling 22-21 to Northern Illinois. Yellow Jackets quarterback Jordan Yates put up 135 yards with a score on 12-of-18 passing, and Jahmyr Gibbs led the rush with 20 carries for 99 yards.

In game two versus Kennesaw State, the Yellow Jackets posted a 24-3 lead at the break and cruised to a 45-17 win by scoring in every quarter. Yates notched 254 yards with four touchdowns in that one, and Dontae Smith had 82 yards and a score from eight carries.

Over on the Clemson side, they took a rough opener loss as well, falling 10-3 to Georgia. The Tigers notched just two rushing yards and 3.0 yards per play in the defeat. Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei went 19-of-37 for 178 yards and a pick, while Joseph Ngata had 110 receiving yards.

The Tigers played South Carolina State this past weekend. Clemson scored 28 points in the first quarter and never looked back in a 49-3 result. Uiagalelei had 171 yards, one TD and one interception while Will Shipley had eight carries for 80 yards and two scores.

The Jackets are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games and 8-19 ATS in their last 27 overall. Georgia Tech is 3-10 ATS in their last 13 in September as well.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are 22-8 ATS in their last 30 conference games and 1-5 ATS in their last six at home. Clemson is also 0-5 ATS in their last five in September.

PICK: I’m going to try Georgia Tech in this one. The Yellow Jackets played a nicely well-rounded game in week two, holding Kennesaw State to 4.3 yards per play, 13 first downs and three turnovers. GT averaged 7.0 yards per play themselves and punted just three times.

As for Clemson, they had 504 yards of total offense and held an overmatched South Carolina team to just nine first downs and 11 punts. The Tigers did cough up three turnovers, however. This week three matchup should be an interesting one, but I like the Jackets better on a potential cover.
