The UConn Huskies meet the Yale Bulldogs in week 7 college football action Saturday at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in Storres. The Yale Bulldogs look for a win here to get a game above a .500 record. The UConn Huskies need a feel good win to rebound from a brutal 0-7 record.

The Yale Bulldogs have won four of their last six road games. Griffin O’Connor is completing 59 percent of his passes for 868 yards, six touchdowns and one interception. Mason Tipton and Melvin Rouse II have combined for 420 receiving yards and three touchdowns while Darrion Carrington has seven receptions. The Yale Bulldogs ground game is averaging 112.5 yards per contest, and Zane Dudek leads the way with 225 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Yale is allowing 15.2 points and 277.3 yards per game. John Dean leads the Yale Bulldogs with 25 tackles, Clay Patterson has six sacks and Rodney Thomas II has two interceptions.

The UConn Huskies haven’t won a home game since August 2019. Steven Krajewski is completing 52.8 percent of his passes for 502 yards, three touchdowns and five interceptions. Keelan Marion and Jay Rose have combined for 439 receiving yards and five touchdowns while Aaron Turner has 18 receptions. The UConn Huskies ground game is averaging 118.4 yards per contest, and Nathan Carter leads the way with 400 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, UConn is allowing 37.9 points and 453 yards per game. Jackson Mitchell leads the UConn Huskies with 72 tackles, Travis Jones has two sacks and Jeremy Lucien has two interceptions.

I’m almost never going to back an FCS team in the favorite role against an FBS team, and I’m not doing it here. Yes, UCONN isn’t good, but the Huskies have played their best ball of the season these last three weeks, which includes taking Wyoming and Vanderbilt down to the wire in big underdog roles. The loss to UMass does give you signs that UCONN isn’t ready to turn the corner, but the improvement has been there. If the Huskies are going to win this season, this would be it. Give me the free field goal in a game UCONN probably should win outright.
