The San Jose State Spartans meet the Utah State Aggies on Saturday in week 11 MWC college football action from CEFCU Stadium.

The Utah State Aggies come into this game looking to build on a 35-13 beatdown road win over New Mexico State in their last game. Logan Bonner has thrown for 2,486 yards, 21 touchdowns and 9 interceptions on 61.3% passing while Calvin Tyler Jr. has 516 rushing yards with 4 TDs to lead the Aggies on the ground and Elelyon Noa has 431 rushing yards as well this season. Deven Thompkins leads the Utah State receiving group with 72 catches for 1,314 yards and 8 TDs while Brandon Bowling has 478 receiving yards with 4 TDs and Derek Wright has 469 receiving yards and 6 scores. Justin McGriff also has 312 receiving yards for Utah State’s receiving group as well this season. On defense, Justin Rice leads the Aggies with 77 total tackles along with 3 interceptions while Nick Heninger has a team-high 4 sacks and Patrick Joyner Jr. has 3.5 sacks as well this season.

The San Jose State Spartans will be looking to bounce back from a 27-24 loss at the hands of Nevada in their last game. Nick Starkel has thrown for 1,247 yards, 9 touchdowns and 6 interceptions on 50.8% passing while Nick Nash has tossed for 971 yards, 6 touchdowns and 3 INTs. Nash has also rushed for 359 yards, but Tyler Nevens leads the Spartans with 699 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns. Derrick Deese Jr. leads San Jose State with 42 catches for 677 yards and 4 scores while Isaiah Hamilton, Jermaine Braddock and Charles Ross each have 300+ receiving yards as well this season. Four more Spartans have at least 100 receiving yards as well this season. On defense, Kyle Harmon leads the Spartans with 104 total tackles while Viliami Fehoko has a team-high 6 sacks and Cade Hall has 4 sacks as well on the year.

Utah State is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a win and 11-24 ATS in their last 35 games as an underdog while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall. San Jose State is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 home games while the under is 8-1 in their last 9 games against a team with a winning record.

This line is a bit confusing to me. I get that this may be the more winnable of San Jose State’s last two games to get bowl eligibility, but they haven’t really beaten anyone tough and even their wins have been close. Utah State is a lot better than any of the teams that San Jose State has beaten and in all honesty I’m not sure why Utah State isn’t favored here. Give me the better team playing better football in Utah State with the points and you better believe I’m putting a bet on the ML as well.
