Arizona hasnât had much luck on the field this year. The Wildcats lost their first eight games, falling to BYU, San Diego State, Northern Arizona, Oregon, UCLA, Colorado, Washington and USC before finally getting a win over California on November 6.
Last weekend against Utah, the Wildcats had a brief 14-7 lead early but ultimately couldnât keep up in a 38-29 loss. QB Will Plummer managed 223 yards with one TD while also leading the rush with 50 yards and a score. Dorian Singer added 84 yards from five grabs.
Over on the Washington State side, they went 1-3 over their first four games with a lone win versus Portland State. The Cougars went 4-1 over their next five however, taking out California, Oregon State, Stanford and Arizona State along with a tight loss to BYU.
In the Oregon matchup, Washington State had a 14-14 tie at halftime but was outscored 24-10 from there in a 38-24 defeat. QB Jayden de Laura put up 280 yards with two TDs and two picks, and Travell Harris added 109 yards and a score off eight receptions.
The Wildcats are 4-0 ATS in their last four overall and 4-0 ATS in their last four conference games. Arizona is 8-22 ATS in their last 30 road games.
Meanwhile, the Cougars are 5-1 ATS in their last six conference games and 5-1 ATS in their last six on turf. Washington State is 1-4 ATS in their last five Friday games.
PICK: Iâm going to take a stab on Arizona. The Wildcats didnât perform too badlyâcomparatively speakingâin their loss to Utah last weekend. Arizona managed 329 total yards with 5.1 yards per play and a near-reasonable 7-of-16 on third-down tries. The Wildcats played a clean game with no turnovers and just five penaltiesâtrouble is they gave up 468 yards on the other side.
As for Washington State, they held up pretty well against Oregon initially, but ended up giving away three turnovers and allowing a whopping 306 rush yards. I like the Cougars to be competitive here as well, with Arizona eking into a cover.
