The Stanford Cardinal and California Golden Bears square off Saturday in week 12 Pac-12 college football action from Stanford Stadium. California is coming off an open week after a postponement. The Bears last played in a loss to Arizona. As for the Cardinal, they played Oregon State this past weekend. In that one, Stanford lost by three touchdowns. California managed just one win over Sacramento State in their first six games this year. Otherwise it was losses to Nevada, TCU, Washington, Washington State and Oregon. After wins over Colorado and Oregon State the Bears fell 10-3 to Arizona.

The Golden Bears were supposed to have a game versus USC this past weekend, but due to a virus outbreak among Cal players the matchup was postponed. It’s looking like it will be rescheduled for December 4, one day after the conference championship game.

Over on the Stanford side, they went 2-2 over their first four games this year with wins over USC and Vanderbilt. The Cardinal beat Oregon in OT on October 2, but lost their next four to Arizona State, Washington State, Washington and Utah.

In last weekend’s matchup versus Oregon State, Stanford didn’t score in the first half (and allowed points in every quarter) in an eventual 35-14 loss. QB Ari Patu finished on 51 yards, one TD and one pick. Isaiah Sanders led the rush on 37 yards from nine carries.

The Bears are 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight conference games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven on grass. Cal is 15-6 ATS in their last 21 road games.

Meanwhile, the Cardinal are 1-4 ATS in their last five on grass and 1-8-2 ATS in the last 11 in November. Stanford is 0-5 ATS in their last five overall.

PICK: I’m probably going to try Cal, but staying away. With last weekend’s postponement and limited practice time it’s hard telling what the Bears will look like going into this one. Even at full strength the Bears struggled in their last game offensively with just 122 total yards and nine first downs.

As for Stanford, they could only muster 230 yards of offense (94 pass yards) against Oregon State, with 15 first downs, a meager 23:13 time of possession and three turnovers. It’s going to be tough to bounce back from that immediately.
