The Arizona State Sun Devils and Washington Huskies clash Saturday in a week 6 PAC-12 college football game from Sun Devil Stadium. Washington last played UCLA back on Friday. In that game, the Huskies lost by eight points. As for Arizona State, they’re coming off a game versus USC. The Sun Devils ended up falling in a blowout. Washington jumped out of the gate this year with a 45-20 blowout win over Kent State, then took out Portland State with another big margin 52-6. The Huskies would then beat Michigan State 39-28, then take out Stanford 40-22.
In the UCLA matchup back on Friday, the Huskies gave up 31 points across the second and third quarters in a 40-32 loss. QB Michael Penix put up 345 yards with four scores and two picks. Rome Odunze led the receivers on 116 yards and two scores from eight catches.
Over on the Arizona State side, their year opened with a fairly easy 40-3 blowout victory over Northern Arizona. The Sun Devils would hit the skids after that however, notching losses 34-17 to Oklahoma State, 30-21 to Eastern Michigan and 34-13 to Utah.
On Saturday versus USC, the Sun Devils were down 21-17 after halftime and eventually fell 25-42. QB Emory Jones logged 243 yards with a TD and an interception. Xazavian Valladay added 64 rush yards and a score, while Bryan Thompson put up 86 yards from five catches.
PICK: I’m probably sticking with the Huskies. Washington needs a nice bounce-back effort, though. The Huskies gave up 499 yards of offense in the UCLA loss, along with 27 first downs and a 10-of-14 run on third downs. It wasn’t the greatest defensive effort for Washington, but they didn’t do too badly on the other side of the ball.
As for Arizona State, they hung around with the Trojans pretty well in the first half but they were ultimately beaten by a pretty darn good team. I like the Sun Devils to hang around similarly in this one before Washington pulls away.
