The Utah Utes and the Colorado Buffaloes meet Saturday in college football action from Folsom Field. Utah is fresh off a matchup versus Oregon. The Utes went on to lose by three in a tough outcome. As for Colorado, they played Washington last weekend. In that one the Buffaloes lost in a blowout. Check back all season long for free college football picks at Sports Chat Place.

Utah went 4-1 in their first five games this year with wins over Southern Utah, San Diego State, Arizona State and Oregon State. Utah was 4-1 in their next five as well with wins over USC, Washington State, Arizona and Stanford.

In the Oregon game last weekend, Utah trailed 17-3 going into the third quarter. The Utes tied it up in the third but ultimately lost 20-17. QB Cameron Rising posted 170 yards and three picks. Tavion Thomas led the rush on 19 carries for 55 yards.

Over on the Colorado side, they lost their first five games to TCU, Air Force, Minnesota, UCLA and Arizona. After a win over Cal, Colorado lost to Oregon State, Arizona State, Oregon and USC in their next four outings.

In the Washington matchup, Colorado trailed 33-0 going into the break. Things didn’t get any better for the Buffaloes in a 54-7 defeat. QB JT Shrout managed 120 yards, one TD and an interception. Alex Fontenot rushed 11 times for 71 yards.

Utah is 10-3 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 6-2 ATS in their last eight after an ATS loss. The Utes are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games.

Meanwhile, Colorado is 2-6 ATS in their last eight after an ATS loss and 2-6 ATS in their last eight on grass. The Buffaloes are 2-9 ATS in the last 11 overall.

PICK: I’m leaning toward Utah in this one, but probably not touching it. The line is just way too thick to mess with. The Utes nearly pulled off a great comeback in their loss to Oregon over the weekend but fell short. Utah ended up with 326 yards of offense, 23 first downs and the three interceptions.

As for Colorado, they were destroyed by a good Washington team in their last outing. The Buffaloes came up with just 202 yards, 10 first downs and 3-of-12 on third-down conversions. This matchup’s not going to be any easier.
