The Nevada Wolf Pack and Boise State Broncos meet Saturday in week 11 MWC college football action from Mackay Stadium. Boise State is coming off a matchup versus BYU. In that one the Broncos lost by three points. As for Nevada, they had a bye last week. The Wolf Pack last appeared in a loss to San Jose State. Boise State went 2-2 out of the gate this year with losses to Oregon State and UTEP mixed with wins over New Mexico and TN-Martin. The Broncos won their next four straight over San Diego State, Fresno State, Air Force and Colorado State.

In the BYU game back on Saturday, the Broncos were down 17-14 going into the final quarter. Despite two more touchdowns Boise State lost 31-28. QB Taylen Green managed 220 yards and two scores. George Holani rushed 20 times for 73 yards and two TDs.

Over on the Nevada side, they won their first pair over New Mexico State and Texas State. A losing streak to Incarnate Word, Iowa, Air Force, Colorado State, Hawaii, San Diego State and San Jose State followed, however.

In the San Jose State game back on October 29, the Wolf Pack managed to score a TD in every quarter but ultimately lost 35-28. QB Shane Illingworth managed 223 yards with a TD and a pick. Toa Taua carried 23 times for 75 yards and three more scores.

The Broncos are 11-5-2 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five road games. Boise State is 4-1 ATS in their last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Wolf Pack are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 13 after a bye and 1-5 ATS in the last six on turf. Nevada is 1-6 ATS in the last seven overall.

PICK: I’m probably staying with Boise State. The Broncos really need to dial the defense in, however. Boise State gave up 532 yards, 7.2 yards per play and 27 first downs to BYU in their last outing. The Broncos struggled on offense as well with 324 total yards, 16 first downs and 4-of-10 on third downs.

As for Nevada, they didn’t play awful football in their last outing versus San Jose State. That said, the Wolf Pack gave up 340 passing yards and 29 first downs while also committing 11 penalties for 114 yards during the loss. The week off should do the team some good but I don’t think they’ll cover.
