The Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns square off Saturday in a Big 12 week 6 college football game from the Cotton Bowl.

The Texas Longhorns will be looking to find some consistency, alternating wins and losses in each of their first 5 games of the season, sitting at 3-2 after a 38-20 win over West Virginia last time out. Hudson Card has thrown for 923 yards, 6 touchdowns and an interception on 69.2% passing while Bijan Robinson leads Texas in rushing with 515 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns this season. Xavier Worthy has a team-high 331 receiving yards while two other Longhorns have at least 200 receiving yards as well this season. On defense, Jaylan Ford has a team-high 51 total tackles including 31 solo tackles while Texas’ defense as a whole has 11 sacks this season.

The Oklahoma Sooners will try to rebound from back-to-back losses, also sitting at 3-2 after a 55-24 beatdown loss to TCU last time out. Dillon Gabriel has thrown for 1,215 yards and 11 touchdowns on 63.9% passing while Eric Gray leads OU with 460 yards and 3 scores. Javantae Barnes has 223 rushing yards and Marcus Major has 4 TDs as well on the year. Marvin Mims leads the Sooners in receiving with 22 grabs for 438 yards with 3 scores while another three Sooners have 100+ receiving yards this season. On defense, David Ugwoegbu has a team-high 44 total tackles while Danny Stutsman has 42 total tackles and a team-high 26 solo tackles and Reggie Grimes has a team-high 4 sacks. Oklahoma’s defense as a whole has combined for 14 sacks and 4 interceptions this season.

Texas is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 conference games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games in October. Oklahoma is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 neutral site games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS loss while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record.

I get the reasoning for Texas being favored here, with the game on a neutral field and Oklahoma stumbling in their last couple of games, especially on defense, which was the one area where Oklahoma needed to improve. It did look like maybe Brent Venables fixed that, but now there are legitimate questions. That being said, this is a rivalry of rivalries and 8 of the last 9 meetings have been decided by one score, including 4 of which that were decided by 5 points or less. I honestly think this could be a 4-point game or tighter whichever way you see it going, so give me Oklahoma and the points here.
