The Pitt Panthers and Syracuse Orange clash Saturday in a week 10 ACC college football game from Acrisure Stadium.
The Syracuse Orange will try to bounce back from back-to-back losses, sitting at 6-2 on the year after a 31-24 loss to Notre Dame last time out. Garrett Shrader has thrown for 1,636 yards, 14 touchdowns and 5 interceptions on 67.2% passing while also rushing for 373 yards and 6 scores. Sean Tucker has a team-high 758 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns while Oronde Gadsden II has a team-high 41 receptions for 671 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns this season. Devaughn Cooper has 234 receiving yards while four other Orange receivers have at least 100 receiving yards as well this season. On defense, Mikel Jones has a team-high 68 total tackles while Syracuse’s defense has combined for 20 sacks and 8 interceptions this season.
The Pitt Panthers will try to rebound from back-to-back losses of their own, sitting at 4-4 on the year after a 42-24 loss to North Carolina last time out. Kedon Slovis has thrown for 1,561 yards, 5 touchdowns and 5 interceptions on 58.2% passing while Israel Abanikanda has a team-high 1,086 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns and Vincent Davis also has 239 rushing yards this season. Jared Wayne leads Pitt’s receiving group with 572 receiving yards while Konata Mumpfield, Bub Means and Gavin Bartholomew each have 200+ receiving yards this season. On defense, SirVocea Dennis has a team-high 55 total tackles with 5 sacks while Solomon DeShields and Calijah Kancey each have 3 sacks. Erick Hallett II has 3 interceptions as well on the year.
Syracuse is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 conference games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a double-digit loss at home. Pitt is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games following an ATS loss.
I get the reasoning for backing Pitt at home here, but I just don’t know how much I personally trust Pitt to slow down Syracuse’s Sean Tucker. The Panthers have a tendency to give up big plays on the ground and I just think that Syracuse is in a decent spot to bounce back after a couple of tough games in back-to-back weeks. The wrong team I think is favored here, so give me Syracuse and the points.
