BYU hit a 4-1 run over their first five games with wins over South Florida, Baylor, Wyoming and Utah State. The Cougars went 1-4 in their next five, falling to Notre Dame, Arkansas, Liberty and East Carolina in succession.

In the Utah State game, BYU trailed 6-0 going into the second quarter. The Cougars turned it on from there and eventually took a 52-26 victory. QB Jaren Hall finished with 456 yards, five scores and a pick. Christopher Brooks rushed for 102 yards on 12 carries.

Over on the Stanford side, they were 1-4 in their first five this season, losing to USC, Washington, Oregon and Oregon State. Stanford beat Notre Dame and Arizona State before losses to UCLA, Washington State and Utah.

Matched up against California, Stanford had a 17-6 lead going into the final quarter. The Cardinal fell apart from there and lost 27-20 in a tough one. QB Tanner McKee managed 271 yards with one TD and a pick. Mitch Leigber rushed 22 times for 83 yards and a TD.

The Cougars are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 in November and 2-5 ATS in their last seven versus the Pac-12. BYU is 2-7 ATS in their last nine road games.

Meanwhile, the Cardinal are 16-34-2 ATS in their last 52 overall and 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 on grass. Stanford is 6-18-2 ATS in their last 26 in November.

PICK: I’m going to try BYU. The Cougars started slow in their matchup versus Utah Tech, but eventually they’d put up some good numbers. BYU had 676 yards of offense (220 rushing), 30 first downs and 32:11 in time of possession. The Cougars had 11 penalties and a couple of turnovers, though.

As for Stanford, they had a rough loss against California back on Saturday. The Cardinal had two turnovers, seven penalties and went a rough 4-of-15 on third-down tries but probably still should have won. This one’s not going to be an easy matchup either.
