The Texas State Bobcats and Arkansas State Red Wolves meet Saturday in week 12 Sun Belt college football action from Bobcat Stadium.

The Arkansas State Red Wolves come into this game looking to build on a 35-33 win over UMass in their last game. James Blackman has thrown for 2,014 yards, 13 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on 66.5% passing while Johnnie Lang leads the Red Wolves on the ground with 363 rushing yards and 3 TDs and AJ Mayer has 279 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns. On defense, Jordan Carmouche has a team-high 68 total tackles while Kivon Bennett has a team-high 3.5 sacks and Arkansas State as a team has 17 sacks and 5 interceptions this season.

The Texas State Bobcats will try to bounce back from a fourth straight loss after a 38-21 loss to South Alabama last time out. Layne Hatcher has thrown for 2,324 yards, 19 touchdowns and 9 interceptions on 63.1% passing while Lincoln Pare leads the Bobcats with 464 rushing yards and Calvin Hill has 333 rushing yards as well this season. Ashtyn Hawkins leads Texas State’s receiving group with 56 grabs for 587 yards and 7 touchdowns while five other receivers have at least 200 receiving yards this season. On defense, Sione Tupou has a team-high 71 total tackles while Texas State’s defense as a whole has 23 sacks and 10 interceptions.

Arkansas State is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games following an ATS loss. Texas State is 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games following an ATS loss and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games while the under is 8-3 in their last 11 games following a loss.

I get the case to be made either way in this game, but I’m leaning towards Texas State here they’re the better defensive unit here and as bad as the offense has been in spots, the Red Wolves’ defense has been bad enough that it’ll help make the Bobcats look a lot better than they actually are. Not a game I’m rushing to the window to bet, but I’ll side with the Bobcats here.
