The BC Lions and Winnipeg Blue Bombers meet Thursday in CFL action at the Princess Auto Stadium. Here’s a Blue Bombers vs Lions Prediction. This article will include a Blue Bombers vs Lions Pick.
BC Lions Betting Preview
The BC Lions look for another win after beating up on Edmonton Elks in their season opener. The BC Lions look for their third 2-0 start in the last four years.
Nathan Rourke is completing 75 percent of his passes for 324 yards, 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. Stanley Berryhill III and Jevon Cottoy have combined for 193 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns, while Keon Hatcher Sr. has 4 receptions.
The BC Lions ground game is averaging 101 yards per contest, and James Butler leads the way with 68 yards and 1 touchdown. Defensively, BC is allowing 14 points and 265 yards per game. Robert Carter Jr. leads the BC Lions with 7 tackles, Kemoko Turay has 1 sack and Ben Hladik has 1 interception.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers Betting Preview
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are coming off an 11-win season that ended with a loss in the Grey Cup. Mike O’Shea enters his 12th year at head coach, and there has to be a sour taste in Winnipeg’s mouth after three straight losses in the championship game.
The Blue Bombers offense will be one of the best in the league thanks to 2021 MVP at quarterback in Zach Collaros and last year’s MOP in running back Brady Oliveira. The return of wide receiver Dalton Schoen is also a nice boost, as he has 26 touchdowns on 142 receptions. Once Collaros returns from suspension, the Blue Bombers will remain one of the most fun teams in the league to watch due to their scoring ability.
Defensively, the Blue Bombers have questions in the secondary, but the unit is still led by defensive lineman Willie Jefferson, who was 2019 MODP and has 68 sacks and 20 forced fumbles for his career. Devin Adams is back after four sacks last season, and Evan Holm returns after leading Winnipeg with 89 tackles. The Blue Bombers have made the Grey Cup in each of the last five years, so there’s no reason to doubt this franchise and what they’re capable of when rolling.
Blue Bombers vs Lions Prediction
On the surface, the Blue Bombers as a home dog is intriguing, but this line is what it is because of the suspension of quarterback Collaros. I also like that BC has a game under its belt, as there’s an advantage there, as the Lions have had a chance to find their footing.
With that said, I’m grabbing the points with the Blue Bombers. Quarterback issues or not, there’s enough playmakers on both sides of the ball to pick up the slack. Also, don’t sleep on Chris Streveler, as he’s a vet who bounced around the CFL and NFL, and he led the CFL in rushing touchdowns twice. Streveler can make plays with his legs and extend drives. This is an overreaction from oddsmakers. Give me the Blue Bombers and the points.
