Tulane comes into this one at 5-2 so far. The Wave are 1-2 over their last three outings, beating Grambling State and falling to Memphis and East Carolina. As for UCF, they’re 3-2 this season. The Knights had consecutive wins going before falling to Houston in their last game. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Tulane opened up the season with four straight wins, taking out Lamar, Lipscomb, Southern Miss and AR-Pine Bluff in succession. Since then it’s been a 1-2 run for the Green Wave. They lost to Memphis 80-74, then beat Grambling State 77-65 before losing to East Carolina 68-58 in their last appearance.
In the loss to the Pirates, Tulane’s top scorer was Jaylen Forbes with 16 points and three rebounds. Gabe Watson was also in double-figures there with 14 points, four assists and two rebounds. Kevin Cross chipped in with nine points and five boards in 17 minutes on the court as well.
Over on the UCF side, they opened the season with a win over Auburn before falling big to Michigan 80-58. The Knights shocked Florida State in game three, then beat Cincinnati 75-70. In their last outing, UCF took another loss to Houston 63-54 on December 26.
In the loss to the Cougars, UCF’s leading contributor was Brandon Mahan with 13 points, five rebounds and one assist. Darius Perry also scored 13 with three rebounds, while Darin Green managed 12 points. Dre Fuller led the rebounding with 10, scoring seven with two assists also.
The Knights are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. UCF is 14-6-1 ATS in their last 21 Wednesday games and the over is 10-4 in their last 14 Wednesday games.
Meanwhile, the Wave are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 road games and 7-2 ATS in their last nine Wednesday games. Tulane is 4-0 ATS in their last four after an ATS loss and the under is 5-2 in the last seven overall.
PICK: I’m going to stick with UCF. At first glance, the Knights’ record doesn’t look all that impressive after five games, but they’ve had to deal with some formidable competition in the early-going this season. UCF even managed to hang around with Houston in the first half before the Cougars pulled away after the break. Tulane hasn’t been a great scoring team this season with just two games over 68 points. I think there’s plenty of room for the Knights to bang out a cover in this one.
