The Kennesaw State Owls and the Liberty Flames meet Friday in college basketball action from Liberty Arena.
Kennesaw State sits at 3-7 so far. The Owls have lost five straight games, most recently dropping a pair to Jacksonville last weekend. As for the Flames, they’re 9-4 this year. Liberty is coming off a 16-point win over Lipscomb on Saturday. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Kennesaw State kicked off the year at 3-2, taking out Carver, Toccoa Falls and Dalton State. Things haven’t been good since, however. Over their five-game losing streak, the Owls have fallen to Belmont, Samford, Mercer and Jacksonville twice, 62-57 and 72-66.
In the Saturday loss to the Dolphins, Kennesaw State’s Spencer Rodgers posted 18 points with three assists and two rebounds. Alex Petersen added 15 points with seven rebounds, and Chris Youngblood managed 11 points with three rebounds.
Over on the Liberty side, they came out of the gate at 4-2 over their first half-dozen games. After a loss to Missouri, the Flames took out CIU, SC State, Carver and Alcorn State before a loss to Lipscomb. Liberty got a win over Lipscomb in the Saturday game, however, 66-50.
In the win over the Bisons, Liberty’s Darius McGhee managed 18 points with seven rebounds and three assists. Kyle Rode added 12 points with three rebounds in 26 minutes as the only other Flames player to finish in double-figures for the game.
Liberty is 4-1-1 ATS in their last six Friday games and 8-1 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Flames are 5-0 ATS in their last five home games and the over is 13-4 in their last 17 games overall.
Meanwhile, the Owls are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 5-2 ATS in the last seven games overall. The under is 6-1 in the Owls’ last seven road games and 5-1 in their last seven on the road versus a team with a winning home record.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Liberty here. Kennesaw State has had some issues with scoring this season, notching more than 66 points just once in their last five outings. Liberty was at 66 in their win over Lipscomb, but had hit 70 or more in each of the five games prior. If the Flames can find a good rhythm and keep the Owls at bay during the first half, I think Liberty has a solid shot at finishing off with a cover.
