The Cincinnati Bearcats and the Wichita State Shockers meet in college basketball action from Charles Koch Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The Cincinnati Bearcats will look to build on their 76-69 win over SMU in their last outing to snap a five-game losing streak. Keith Williams leads the Bearcats in scoring with 15.1 PPG to go along with 4.2 RPG while Jeremiah Davenport has 10.6 PPG with 4.1 RPG to make up the pair of double-digit scorers for Cincinnati up to this point in the year. Mike Adams-Woods has 8.6 PPG while David DeJulius has 8.2 PPG with 4.7 RPG and a team-high 5.1 APG this season and Tari Eason leads the Bearcats in rebounding with 5.7 RPG to go along with his 7.6 PPG this season. As a team, Cincinnati is averaging 69 PPG on 43.1% shooting from the field, 28.1% from 3-point range and 66.9% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 71.2 PPG on 45.3% shooting from the field and 31.2% from 3-point range this season.
The Wichita State Shockers will look to bounce back from a 70-63 loss to Houston in their last matchup. Tyson Etienne leads the Shockers in scoring with 17.9 PPG to go along with 3.8 RPG while Alterique Gilbert has 10.8 PPG as well as a team-high 3.3 APG to make up the pair of double-digit scorers for the Shockers heading into Sunday’s matchup. Dexter Dennis has 8.3 PPG to sit 3rd in scoring while Trey Wade leads Wichita State in rebounding with 5.7 RPG this season. As a team, Wichita State is averaging 73.6 PPG on 40.6% shooting from the field, 32.1% from 3-point range and 68.7% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 67.8 PPG on 38.9% shooting from the field and 28.8% from 3-point range this season.
Cincinnati is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 road games and 15-36 ATS in their last 51 games overall while the under is 47-19-2 in their last 68 road games against a team with a winning home record. Wichita State is 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 2-6-2 ATS in their last 10 home games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 home games against a team with a losing road record.
I get the case to be made for Cincinnati with the points as the Bearcats are a better team than their record would indicate and they finally got off the schneid with their win over SMU. However, this is still a Bearcats team that’s 2-7 ATS this season and it’s hard to get behind them after one good performance. Wichita State’s been consistent for much of the year and almost had Houston beat before falling apart late. The line here isn’t bad, so I’ll lay the points with Wichita State here.
