Middle Tennessee vs Charlotte College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 2/5/21

The Charlotte 49ers and the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders meet in college basketball action from the Murphy Athletic Center on Friday night.

The Charlotte 49ers will look to build on a 68-65 win over FIU last time out. Jahmir Young leads the 49ers in scoring and rebounding with 19.6 PPG and 5.9 RPG while Jordan Shepherd has 11.9 PPG and Brice Williams has 10.1 PPG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for the 49ers. As a team, Charlotte is averaging 64.8 PPG on 44.7% shooting from the field, 33.7% from behind the arc and 73.1% from the foul line while allowing 63.6 PPG on 42.2% shooting from the field and 31.3% from behind the 3-point line this season.

The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders will look to bounce back from a 63-52 loss to UAB last time out. Dontrell shuler leads MTSU in scoring with 12.2 PPG while also leading in assists with 2.9 APG this season and Jordan Davis has 11 PPG with 3.7 RPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Middle Tennessee so far this season. Jo’Vontae Millner-Criss also has a team-high 5.8 RPG for the Blue Raiders this season. As a team, Middle Tennessee is averaging 60.1 PPG on 37.2% shooting from the field, 29.5% from behind the arc and 68.8% from the foul line while allowing 67.1 PPG on 43.9% shooting from the field and 28% from 3-point range this season.  

Charlotte is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 21-45 ATS in their last 66 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win. Middle Tennessee is 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 games overall and 2-10-1 ATS in their last 13 home games while the under is 12-1 in their last 13 games as an underdog. The home team is 7-1-1 ATS in the last 9 meetings between these two teams.

This is a low total and for good reason as I think this could be a game where neither side gets to 60. Both teams struggle to score and even against a bad Middle Tennessee team I could see Charlotte having issues. I’ll side with the under here.
