Georgia State vs Appalachian State College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 2/23/21

The Appalachian State Mountaineers and the Georgia State Panthers meet Tuesday in college basketball action from GSU Sports Arena. 

Appalachian State enters this one at 12-9 so far. The Mountaineers have lost four straight games to Troy and South Alabama. As for Georgia State, they’re sitting at 11-5 this year. Appalachian State was sitting at 6-4 back on January 1 following a pair of losses to Auburn and Troy. The Mountaineers found some life after that with six wins in seven games, but have since lost four straight to Troy and South Alabama. 

In the 56-54 loss to South Alabama on Saturday, App State’s Justin Forrest led the team with 20 points, six rebounds and one assist. James Lewis notched a double-double in that one with 11 points, 10 rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes on the floor as well. 

Over on the Panthers’ side, they were sitting at 7-2 on January 2 but have only been able to play seven games since then. Georgia State has gone 4-3 in that stretch, with wins over Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern and Troy (twice). 

In the 65-53 win Saturday over Troy, the Panthers’ top scorers were Jalen Thomas and Corey Allen, each with 16 points and a combined 10 rebounds and two assists. Justin Roberts chipped in 13 points with nine assists and three boards there also. 

The Panthers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall and 2-5 ATS in their last seven Tuesday games. The under is 7-3 in Georgia State’s last 10 overall and the over is 4-1 in their last five Tuesday games. 

Meanwhile, the Mountaineers are 0-4 ATS in their last four overall and 0-4 ATS in their last four as a favorite. App State is 1-4-1 ATS in their last six road games and the under is 4-1 in their last five overall. 

PICK: I’m going to stick with Georgia State here. The Mountaineers offense has hit a wall over their last four games. They’ve failed to score more than 63 points in any of those outings. Georgia State has a few offensive duds themselves here and there, but they’ve hit 79 or more in two of their last three. This should be a pretty good matchup but I like Georgia State to power it out.
