The Florida A&M Rattlers and the South Carolina State Bulldogs meet Sunday in college basketball action from SHM Memorial Center.
Florida A&M enters this one at 6-10 overall. As for South Carolina State, they’re currently sitting at 1-16. This will be a rematch of Saturday’s game featuring these same teams. In that one, South Carolina got their first win of the year, a six-point victory. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Florida A&M stumbled to a 2-8 start over their first 10 games, with no less than four periods of inactivity due to postponements/cancellations. After that came a 4-3 run for the Rattlers with wins over North Carolina Central, North Carolina A&T and South Carolina State.
In Saturday’s matchup against South Carolina State, Florida A&M fell behind 36-31 at the break and couldn’t make up the difference in an eventual 63-57 loss. Leading the way for the Rattlers in scoring was Jalen Speer on 20 points, five rebounds and two assists.
Over on the South Carolina State side, it’s been pretty much a lost season as the team hasn’t had much to build on yet. Over six games heading into this weekend, the Bulldogs had losses to North Carolina A&T, Florida A&M and North Carolina Central.
In Saturday’s victory, the Bulldogs kept their halftime lead up with a 27-26 advantage in the second on the way to the win. Floyd Rideau led the team with 15 points, one rebound and one assist.
The Bulldogs are 6-2 ATS in their last eight Sunday games and 5-0 ATS in their last five overall. South Carolina State is 10-3 ATS in their last 13 as a home underdog and the under is 5-0 in their last five Sunday games.
Meanwhile, the Rattlers are 2-6 ATS in their last eight Sunday games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven as a favorite. The over is 12-5 in Florida A&M’s last 17 road games and they’re 4-1 ATS in their last five as a road underdog.
PICK: I’m sticking with South Carolina State in this one. Sure, the Bulldogs record this year is pretty abysmal, but they’ve been coming close in a lot of games. Saturday’s matchup saw South Carolina State finally get over the hump, and they came out of the gate with a solid first half. I like the Bulldogs to keep it going here and cover.
