The Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers and the Kentucky Wildcats meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Rupp Arena. Mount St. Mary’s is 1-2 on the year so far and fresh off a loss to St. Joseph’s. As for the Wildcats, they lost their opener to Duke but came back for a big win over Robert Morris back on Friday. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Mount St. Mary’s got a very tough matchup right out of the gate against Villanova. The Mountaineers scored just 21 points in the first half during a 91-51 loss. Game two went better for Mount St. Mary’s, though; it was a 117-62 win over Washington College (MD).

The Mountaineers were unable to keep that momentum going against Saint Joseph’s in game three. Mount St. Mary’s was outscored 39-22 in the first half and limped to an 80-60 blowout loss. Top scorer was Dakota Leffew with 15 points, three boards and two assists.

Over on the Kentucky side, they locked horns with Duke in their first game of the year. The Wildcats were down 39-35 at halftime but didn’t end up any closer in a 79-71 defeat. Oscar Tshiebwe (17 points; 20 rebounds) and Sahvir Wheeler (16 points; 10 assists) doubled up in that one.

The Wildcats bounced back well against Robert Morris in game two. Kentucky had a 46-30 edge in the first half and a 54-30 edge in the second for a 100-60 win. Kellan Grady was the team’s top scorer with 19 points and Tshiebwe pulled down 20 rebounds.

Kentucky is 3-9 ATS in their last 12 at home and 0-8 ATS in their last eight after an ATS win. The Wildcats are 0-6 ATS in their last six Tuesday games.

Meanwhile, the Mountaineers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven Tuesday games and the over is 5-0 in their last five road games. The over is 5-1 in Mount St. Mary’s last six overall.

PICK: I’m probably going to stay with Kentucky. The Wildcats played fairly well against a tough Duke team in their opener despite shooting a tepid 37.7 percent from the floor. The Robert Morris game was a clinic for Kentucky; they shot 57.1 percent and had a 43-24 rebound advantage. If the Wildcats can get off to a fast start here I don’t see Mount St. Mary’s keeping up at all.
