The Georgia Southern Eagles and the Hampton Pirates meet Saturday in college basketball action from Hampton Convocation Center. Georgia Southern is 3-0 so far and took a big 52-point win over Bob Jones in their last outing. As for Hampton, they played Wofford on Friday. In that one the Pirates lost by 17 points. Georgia Southern kicked off their 2021-22 season against Ball State. The Eagles scored 41 points in each half on the way to an 82-71 win. Game two was another win for Georgia Southern. That one ended up 53-41 over South Florida.
The Eagles kept their winning ways going versus Bob Jones on Tuesday. Georgia Southern posted 53 points in the first half and 50 more from there in a 103-51 blowout. Tops in scoring was Andrei Savrasov with 18 points and eight boards in 15 minutes.
Over on the Hampton side, they didn’t have any trouble in their opener over Mid-Atlantic Christian University, rolling to a 101-51 win. The Pirates managed another win over Regent VA 70-56 before falling to Towson 78-54 on Tuesday.
In the Friday matchup versus Wofford, Hampton posted just 28 points in the second half during a 77-60 loss. Mario Basket and Russell Dean were the top team scorers, with 15 points apiece and a combined four assists and nine boards.
Hampton is 4-1 ATS in their last four neutral-site games and the under is 7-3 in their last 10 neutral-site games. The over is 19-7 in the Pirates’ last 26 Saturday games.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Georgia Southern here. The Eagles have done pretty well on offense so far, scoring 82 points or more in two of three games. Georgia Southern had a cakewalk against Bob Jones, shooting a nasty 72.1 percent from the floor.
As for Hampton, they shot a cold 32.8 percent from the floor against Wofford and were out-rebounded 38-26 in a tepid overall game. I don’t think they’ll bounce back much better in this one.
