The North Texas Mean Green and the Kansas Jayhawks meet Thursday in college basketball action from HP Field House. North Texas is 2-1 this season and coming off a loss to UT-Arlington. As for Kansas, they’re sitting at 3-0. The Jayhawks beat Stony Brook in a blowout during their last appearance. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

North Texas didn’t have much trouble against Oklahoma Christian in their opener this year, turning a 42-27 halftime edge into an 84-53 blowout win. Game two wasn’t quite as simple, though; the Mean Green ended up losing to Buffalo 69-66.

North Texas got back to business in game three against UT-Arlington. The Mean Green were ahead by a whopping 43-12 margin at the break and ended up winning 64-36. Lead scorer Thomas Bell put up 19 points with six rebounds and two assists.

Over on the Kansas side, it’s been smooth sailing through three games so far. The Jayhawks managed an 87-74 win over Michigan State in this year’s opener. Game two was a blowout victory over Tarleton State 88-62.

In game three against Stony Brook, Kansas had a mild 38-32 edge at halftime but surged from there. The Jayhawks put up 50 second-half points in an 88-59 win. Ochai Agbaji topped the team on 25 points, four rebounds and three assists.

The Jayhawks are 0-2-2 ATS in their last four after an ATS win and 10-3 ATS in their last 13 Thursday games. Kansas is 9-3-2 ATS in their last 14 overall.

Meanwhile, the Mean Green are 6-1 ATS in their last seven neutral-site games and 22-8-1 ATS in their last 31 after an ATS win. North Texas is 6-0 ATS in their last six Thursday games.

PICK: I’m probably going to stay with the Jayhawks in this one. Kansas had a mild first half in their last outing versus Stony Brook, but eventually stepped on the gas with 50 percent shooting, 41 rebounds and 19 team assists. Overall it was another solid game for Kansas.

As for North Texas, they bounced back pretty well against UT-Arlington in a sketchy shooting game from both sides. The Mean Green are going to need plenty of offense here to keep up, and I’m not sure they’ve got the legs for it.
