The Elon Phoenix will travel to Bud Walton Arena to take on the 24th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks this Tuesday night in College Basketball action.

The Elon Phoenix dropped to 3-9 on the season after being defeated by the 2nd ranked Duke Blue Devils, 87-56, this past Saturday. Elon had no answers for Duke on both sides of the court and could not fight back after going into halftime trailing by a 44-26 margin. Elon shot 44.9% from the field & 38.9% from beyond the arc while allowing Duke to shoot 49.2% from the field & 32.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Phoenix was Jerald Gillens-Butler who had 14 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, & 1 steal.

On the season, Elon is averaging 70.0 ppg on 42.4% shooting from the field. The Phoenix are averaging 9.8 three-pointers per game on 36.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Elon has been led by Hunter McIntosh (11.3 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.1 apg), Torrence Watson (11.2 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 1.5 apg), Darius Burford (11.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.3 apg, 1.6 spg), & Zac Ervin (10.4 ppg, 4.4 rpg).

Defensively, Elon is allowing their opponents to an average of 76.8 ppg on 44.2% shooting from the field. The Phoenix have a rebound margin of -6.5 and a turnover margin of -1.7.

The 24th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 9-2 on the season after being defeated by the Hofstra Pride, 89-81, this past Saturday. Arkansas trailed by a 40-32 margin at halftime and could not fight back after the Pride took a 74-64 lead with 2:36 left in regulation. Arkansas shot 44.6% from the field & 38.7% from beyond the arc while allowing Hofstra to shoot 47.7% from the field & 31.8% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Razorbacks was JD Notae who had 20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, & 2 steals.

On the season, Arkansas is averaging 81.5 ppg on 46.6% shooting from the field. The Razorbacks are averaging 6.4 three-pointers per game on 29.9% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Arkansas has been led by JD Notae (18.3 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 3.3 apg, 2.8 spg), Chris Lykes (12.5 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.0 spg), Au’Diese Toney (12.1 ppg, 6.6 rpg), & Davonte Davis (11.2 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 3.8 apg, 1.3 spg).

Defensively, Arkansas is allowing their opponents to average 71.1 ppg on 43.6% shooting from the field. The Razorbacks have a rebound margin of 6.9 and a turnover margin of 3.5.

The Phoenix are 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 games following a straight up loss of more than 20 points, however, are just 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games overall. The Razorbacks are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 Tuesday games, however, are just 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.

Elon has struggled this season, especially on the defensive side of the ball, however, this is a team that has certainly played a tough schedule and does have some talent on the offensive end as the Phoenix ranks 33rd in three-pointers made per game & 61st in 3P-FG%. Arkansas has lost two straight games and must be disappointed that after losing by 22 points to Oklahoma, that they allowed Hofstra to come on their home court and upset them. Arkansas is no doubt the better team, however, the Razorbacks have struggled defensively this season, ranking just 241st in scoring defense & 267th in defensive FG%, and as I think Elon’s offense will be able to have some success in this one, I think Elon does enough to cover with the large number of points. Good Luck!
