The Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the Louisville Cardinals meet Wednesday in college basketball action from KFC Yum! Center. Wake Forest is 11-1 so far this year and coming off a win over Charlotte. As for Louisville, they’re 7-4 on the season. The Cardinals lost to Western Kentucky in their last game. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Wake Forest won their first six games of the year before a 75-61 loss to LSU back on November 27. Since then it’s been a run of wins over Northwestern, Virginia Tech, USC Upstate, VMI and Charlotte for the Deacons.
In the Charlotte game back on December 17, the Deacons got off to a 48-34 lead at the break and were able to pull out the 82-79 win. Wake Forest’s Alondes Williams led the team on 34 points, seven assists and eight rebounds.
Over on the Louisville side, they went 5-1 over their first six outings this year with a lone loss to Furman as the only blemish. The Cardinals have hit a 2-3 run since then with losses to Michigan State, DePaul and Western Kentucky.
Matched up against Western Kentucky, the Cardinals gave up 46 points in the first half and 36 more from there in an 82-72 defeat. Noah Locke led the team with his 20 points, four rebounds and three assists. Mason Faulkner added 12 points as well.
The Cardinals are 2-6 ATS in their last eight at home and 1-4 ATS in their last five Wednesday games. The over is 3-1-1 in Louisville’s last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Deacons are 5-2 ATS in their last seven Wednesday games and the over is 8-3 in their last 11 overall. The over is 20-8 in Wake’s last 28 Wednesday games.Â
PICK: I’m going to stay with Wake Forest. The Deacons managed to fend off a surging Charlotte team in their last outing with 52.3 percent shooting from the floor and 17 team assists. That said, Wake was also out-rebounded 33-30 and allowed 53.3 percent shooting to the 49ers.Â
As for Louisville, they’ve hit some pretty good scoring totals lately but they’re also prone to giving up points to solid offensive teams. I like the Cardinals to set the pace well here with Wake ultimately pulling off the cover. Should be a good one.
