Loyola went 4-2 over their first six games this year, falling to only Michigan State and Auburn. Since then the Ramblers have taken out Arizona State, Indiana State, DePaul, Roosevelt, Vanderbilt, San Francisco, Bradley and Valparaiso in succession.
In the Valparaiso game on Tuesday, Loyola had to fight back to force overtime after a first-half deficit. It took two extra periods but the Ramblers emerged with a hard-fought 81-74 win. Top scorer Braden Norris finished on 23 points with four assists.
Over on the Indiana State side, their year began at 4-6 with wins over Green Bay, Hanover, Old Dominion and Miami-OH. After a win streak versus Alabama A&M, Oakland City, Midway and Bradley the Sycamores lost again to Northern Iowa.
On Tuesday versus Northern Iowa, Indiana State had an eight-point halftime lead but lost it in the second half. After overtime the Sycamores were left with an 80-74 loss. Both Micah Thomas and Cameron Henry notched 18 points apiece with a combined eight assists.

The under is 4-1 in the Sycamores’ last five after an ATS win and they’re 8-2 ATS in their last 10 at home. Indiana State is 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 overall.
Meanwhile, the Ramblers are 0-4-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games. Loyola is 8-1-3 ATS in their last 12 road games.
PICK: I’m going to stay with Loyola. The Ramblers have had some close calls over this eight-game win streak but to the team’s credit they’re finishing strong and getting the job done. Loyola has hit 68 points or more in each of those games, and 78 or more in each of their last three.
As for Indiana State, they’ve played well lately also. The Sycamores have hit 74 or more points in each of their last four and nearly had a fifth straight win on Tuesday. If Loyola is playing well here however, I don’t see Indiana State keeping up.
