Louisiana Tech hit a 15-3 run in their first 18 games, but they’ve run into some trouble lately. The Bulldogs are a shaky 2-3 in the last five, taking losses to UAB, North Texas and FAU alongside wins over UAB and Florida International.
Matched up against Florida International on Saturday, the Bulldogs posted 30 points in the first half and 56 more from there, holding the Panthers at bay in an 86-82 win. Kenneth Lofton, Jr. and Amorie Archibald each notched 21 points, and Lofton added 13 boards.
Over on the Charlotte side, they kicked off the year at 9-5. The 49ers hit a 2-4 skid with losses to Florida Atlantic, North Texas, Old Dominion and Western Kentucky before turning it around with wins over Marshall and Florida International.
On Monday versus FIU, the 49ers were up by two points heading into halftime. Charlotte kept it going with a 46-35 run from there in an 81-68 win. Jackson Threadgill was the team’s top scorer with 21 points, two assists and three boards.
Charlotte is 7-2 ATS in their last nine at home and 6-2 ATS in their last eight after an ATS win. The 49ers are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 15-5 ATS in their last 20 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last six Thursday games. LA Tech is 1-4 ATS in their last five overall.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Louisiana Tech. I could go either way here, though; we should have a good matchup on our hands. The Bulldogs have scored pretty well this calendar year; they’ve hit 73 or more points in seven of their last eight outings. As for Charlotte, they’re doing fairly well on the scoreboard themselves with 169 combined points over their last pair.
I like this one to be a fairly high total and a competitive game, with Louisiana Tech powering out a cover.
