The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons meet Saturday in college basketball action from LJVM Coliseum. Notre Dame is 19-7 overall this year and beat Boston College in OT during their last outing. As for Wake Forest, they’re currently 20-7 on the season and coming off a loss to Duke. Notre Dame stumbled out of the game at 4-5 but they’ve been able to recover well since then. The Irish are currently riding a five-game win streak. They’ve taken out Miami, NC State, Louisville, Clemson and Boston College in that stretch.
In the Boston College game on Wednesday, the Irish had to scramble in the second half to make up a four-point deficit at the break. Notre Dame ended up with a 99-95 OT victory. Dane Goodwin led the team on his 23 points with seven rebounds.
Over on the Wake Forest side, they jumped out to a nice 20-5 run to start the year. The Deacons only lost consecutive games once in that time. Since then however, it’s been a pair of losses to Miami and Duke.
On Tuesday matched up against the Blue Devils, the Deacons trailed 33-42 at the break. Wake Forest fought back valiantly from there but still lost 76-74. Jake LaRavia was tops on the team with 19 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.
The Deacons are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 overall and 5-2 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win. Wake is 4-0 ATS in their last four after a straight-up loss.
Meanwhile, the Irish are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 overall. The over is 9-4 in Notre Dame’s last 13 road games.
PICK: I’m going to stay with Wake Forest. This should be one of the more compelling matchups of the Saturday college basketball slate though, so you could make a case either way. That said, Wake Forest has only lost by four points or fewer in each of the last two games so they’re still playing well even with the Ls. The Deacons will need to be on point here, though; Notre Dame has hit 68 or more points in four of the five games during this win streak and will probably hang plenty of points. I like this one to be a higher-scoring game with Wake Forest ultimately pulling out a cover. Should be a really fun one to watch.
