The Michigan State Spartans and the Iowa Hawkeyes meet in college basketball action from Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Tuesday night.

The Michigan State Spartans will try to rebound from back-to-back losses and defeats in 4 of 5 after a 79-74 loss to Illinois last time out. Gabe Brown leads the Spartans in scoring with 11.8 PPG with 4.2 RPG as the lone double-digit scorers for the Spartans this season while Malik Hall has 9.8 PPG with 4.9 RPG . Max Christie has 9.7 PPG and Marcus Bingham Jr. has 9.2 PPG with a team-high 6.1 RPG to lead the Spartans on the glass. A.j. Hoggard also has a team-high 5.1 APG as well for MSU so far this season. As a team, Michigan State is averaging 72.8 PPG on 45.9% shooting from the field, 38.3% from three and 76.4% from the foul line while allowing 66.6 PPG on 40.4% shooting from the field and 30.2% from three this season.

The Iowa Hawkeyes will try to add to their 75-62 road win over Ohio State last time out. Keegan Murray leads the Hawkeyes in scoring and rebounding with 23.4 PPG and 8.2 RPG while Patrick McCaffery has 11 PPG and Jordan Bohannon has 10.7 PPG this season. Kris Murray has 10 PPG with 4.5 RPG to round out the group of double-digit scorers for Iowa on the year. Joe Toussaint also has a team-high 3.6 APG for the Hawkeyes this season. As a team, Iowa is averaging 83.5 PPG on 46% shooting from the field, 34.6% from three and 75.2% from the foul line while allowing 71.5 PPG on 43.7% shooting from the field and 32.8% from three this season.

Michigan State is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 4-1-1 in their last 6 games following a loss. Iowa is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games against a team with a road winning percentage above .600 and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 Tuesday games while the over is 20-7-1 in their last 28 games overall.

I get why you’d look the way of Michigan State with the points here, but the Spartans are struggling right now and simply put, Iowa needs this game a lot more than the Spartans do with their potential of an at-large bid increasing with every victory and even with it being at home, a big victory over Michigan State would go a long way to ensuring Iowa a spot at the Big Dance if they don’t win the Big Ten tournament It’s a decent number, but I can see the Hawkeyes winning this one by 8-9 points at the least. Give me Iowa at home here.
