The UCLA Bruins and the Oregon State Beavers meet in college basketball action from Gill Coliseum on Saturday afternoon.
The UCLA Bruins will look to bounce back from a 68-63 loss to Oregon last time out. Johnny Juzang leads the Bruins in scoring with 17 PPG along with 4.7 RPG while Jaime Jaquez Jr. has 12 PPG with a team-high 5.4 RPG and Jules Bernard has 11.9 PPG with 4.7 RPG this season. Tyger Campbell also has 11.7 PPG with a team-high 4.3 APG this season. As a team, UCLA is averaging 76.1 PPG on 44.4% shooting from the field, 34.4% from three and 72.2% from the foul line while allowing 64.5 PPG on 41% shooting from the field and 31.6% shooting from three this season.
The Oregon State Beavers will look to snap a double-digit losing streak after a 94-91 OT loss to USC last time out. Jarod Lucas leads the Beavers in scoring with 13.2 PPG while Dashawn Davis also has 10.8 PPG with 3.3 RPG and a team-high 5.3 APG to lead the Beavers in the assist department as the only other double-digit scorer for Oregon State so far this season. Warith Alatishe has 9.8 PPG with a team-high 5.5 RPG to lead the Beavers on the glass as well this season. As a team, Oregon State is averaging 67.7 PPG on 44.2% shooting from the field, 31% from three and 67.5% from the foul line while allowing 76.5 PPG on 46.8% shooting from the field and 34.7% from three this season.
UCLA is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games against a team with a home winning percentage below .400 and 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a winning percentage below .400 while the under is 9-2 in their last 11 road games. Oregon State is 0-6-1 ATS in their last 7 Saturday games and 1-5-2 ATS in their last 8 games after scoring 90 points or more in their previous game while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 home games against a team with a winning road record.
I get the case to be made for UCLA here, as obviously the Bruins are the better team but let’s call it what it is, the Bruins have bigger fish to fry than to blow out Oregon State. This on the other hand is Oregon State’s Super Bowl, as this team is going nowhere come tournament time and the chance to play in these big games are almost done. I think we see a more concerted effort from Oregon State like we saw against USC, so give me the Beavers and the points here.
